Your argument is that 2/3 of robberies occur between 5pm and 5am. If he had been out at 5pm, would you have said "2/3rds of robberies occur between 5pm and 5am" and still blame the time? What about 8pm, which was the highest percentage of robberies in that chart?
I think you are reading the chart correctly; however, my point was and is simply that being out after midnight increases the odds that robbery will occur, which is supported by the chart. I'm not "blaming time". But, 28% plus of robberies are in the time between midnight and 5 am, putting it at approx. 5.7% per hour. The rate for the rest of the 19 hrs of the day is approx. 3.7% per hour. Thus, being out after midnight increases the likelihood of being robbed. (If I'm reading the chart correctly.)

The five hours after midnight account for roughly 28% of the total robberies in the study but the five hours before midnight account for roughly 31.5%. That said, it is obvious (from common sense and from that chart) more crimes happen when it is dark than when it is light. Midnight just happens to be a good, arbitrary cut off.

I just don't think these kinds of discussions are usually all that helpful after an event happens. I don't want to say "if it had been a different time of day" or "if he'd been in a different neighborhood" or "if he'd called a friend instead of an uber" or whatever. Those discussions tend to shift the blame. Even if no one in this thread is saying Cle caused this crime, saying he made X-bad-decision places some of the blame on him, and I hope that we can minimize that in this thread as much as possible. That's why I was nitpicky with the study you posted.

Yes, unfortunately it seems more often than not we only learn from our own mistakes and think the things that happen to others will never happen to us. It is amazing how dumb your kids think you are when they are teenagers and then watch them gradually change as they gain life experiences and then by the time they are 40 they think you are much smarter than your really are.

        • According to the statistics, don't go out after work. That's a risky behavior.

            • I sure hope Cle reads this so he learns to live less, don't take risks, avoid enjoying your youth after coming so far to make it in the greatest basketball league on the planet.

I think the lesson is to do things more safely. This has been beat to death by now, but go in a group to minimize the chance of being targeted. Don't wear all your jewelry at once, etc.

Bad things will happen, I don't think you can let that influence your decision to enjoy life -- just my opinion.

Everything I Go Through Grows Me & a simple celebration of a friends birthday easily turned into a day that will change my life forever but for the Better. Continue to count your blessings regardless, I know I will, because I got shot but ironically I dodge a bullet. It could of been way worse and I'm thankful and grateful it wasn't. This is a lesson learn for me and to you all as well, be safe out there, theirs people out here that want to hurt you just to hurt you, it's the sad truth about life but don't let them catch you slipping, & don't let them take your Joy! We / I could think about what I could of/should of/ or what you would of done differently to prevent the situation from happening but truth be told is it is what it is, I'm not perfect, but I'm alive, learning & unlearning and God got me so I'm going to be alright! There was No major damage done Thank God, but this is one hell of an experience to recovery from. So with that beginning said Thank you all for your Thoughts and Prayers, I appreciate you all! Shout out to you beautiful souls for caring and sending all the love, it overpowers all hate everyday. • I don't follow Cle via social media (don't really follow any public figures), but based on his Twitter and Facebook activity it seems pretty clear the God knows Cle, and Cle knows God. That said, perhaps God was trying to tell Cle that spending his free time in a business establishment that operates on the currency of sexually-objectifying women (and an industry that in general is about one degree away from human trafficking), is a place he'd prefer one of his peeps not be. I'm not Billy Graham, or Pope Francis, so that's just my opinion as an otherwise common sinner.

The time of day is of no matter really in my opinion. In my earlier years I was out plenty in that segment of the day, in the company of friends of both sexes, in activities totally unrelated to sex, clubbing, or drinking.

Dammit, if I'd have known this in college I would have got plastered at noon more often, in order to put myself at less risk.

SValue - these girls live in a difficult economic time, if this is what they choose to do for a living, who are we to judge.

It has nothing to do with difficult economic times. Strip clubs have been in vogue for generations. You are right about one thing, it's their choice to work in that industry.
