And I'm not wrong, because from my experience, most fans can't and won't allow themselves to be educated about officiating. And yes, the majority of fans do act like idiots from time to time. Myself included. As I said, if people push my buttons, I'm going to push back.

After all, how should I react when I try to explain why something is or isn't, but I get flamed for offering my opinion? I don't feel that I'm the only one that is at fault here, and I'll own my part, but I still stand by my statement

Just curious, was OldRebelGeezer1 thru 49 taken?
He was probably banned from 49 boards.

              • I know I'm thrilled that last year's trend of solo-hijacking game threads to defensively discuss the finer points of officiating ad nauseum has been rejuvenated.

                • My only problem with officiating is inconsistency. If you're going to call something a foul at the beginning of a game, call it a foul at the end of the game, and call it on both ends. If you're not going to call something a foul at the beginning, don't call it a foul later. The things I've seen this year that I hated the most is how one official can watch a guard basically get hugged one time down the floor and swallow his whistle and then the next time down the floor he barely gets touched and the same official calls a foul. All I hope for is consistency. And I haven't seen a whole lot of that so far this year. Last night I was there, so didn't see replays or have the best views of all the calls, but I did see plays that were near mirror images of each other that were and weren't called at different points in the game. And I'm not talking about they called the foul on us and not on them. I mean once it was a foul on us and the next time it wasn't. Inconsistency makes it too difficult for the players to know how to play.

I get what you're saying. Sadly, it's part of the game, in all sports. It would be nice if every foul was called a foul, and every little bit of minimal contact was passed on. You would think after years and years of it being that way, people would get used to it. As a fan, I can see both sides for sure. Without being on the floor, nobody knows why the officials call some things and not the other. It's just a matter of missed calls, not having the right angles, getting screened, etc. Nobody is perfect. Players miss shots and turn the ball over, officials miss calls, coaches make coaching mistakes, it really all works the same. You are correct that inconsistency is tough on players and coaches alike, but it happens.

No, they don't have to get them there--they are already there due to the local production capabilities (i.e., Cox 22). They just purchase the feed and production capabilities. The cameras for every game are pretty much the same. They don't switch them out.

why don't you tweet to goatlube with the comment, if only they had a point guard that could get to the rim.
