Everytime Fred drove in the second half, he was getting held going around screens, then went he fought through that he got mugged down low by multiple people. Plus any play down low with our big men, especially on drives had multiple people hacking away, and no call.

The refs were bad, some in our favor (there were a lot of ticky tack fouls that got called that shouldn't have), others just didn't get called (see above). Either way, it wasn't call great. Its possible the bad calls that benefited us overrode the bad calls that didn't. That doesn't make it a well called game though.

Fred got away with a couple shove offs too. Yet again .. poorly called both ways.

I didn't so much think they were bad (although they were clearly not following the new NCAA rules at all), since both teams were allowed some contact, but I absolutely agree that as effective as Fred was in the first half driving the ball, UNLV clearly responded in the second half by just hacking him and they got away with it a lot.

When you are getting hand-checked, held, and arm-barred all night it isn't really "getting away" with it.

Watch Ron Baker off-ball folks. The dude gets mugged for 10-15 seconds every possession.

That's kind of my point. They are getting mugged ... which should be a foul ... so we push back .. which should be a foul ... and no fouls are called. So the game get progressively more physical. Bad called game all around. That's one big problem this season, there is zero consistency. Its either EVERYTHING is a foul or nothing is a foul.

FVV didn't get mugged down low, those defenders were straight up. Again, if you understand verticality, you would know those were good non-calls. And again, if you don't understand how officiating really works, I would suggest not nitpicking it, because it gets really old after a while and my block list is about to start getting huge because I'm beyond tired of people that don't have a clue.

2 are going on it right frikkin now.

Instead of being pissed off, how about educate? Find some clips online to help illustrate and enlighten.

                    • Two guys likely not getting enough credit for their contributions last night are Z. Brown and Bush W. Both I thought played well in respect to their assigned roles. The other guy I thought that was likely the MVP in the game last night was UNLV's #0. Seems to be the weak link on a very athletic team. Hard to count the number of times he messed up. Probably should spend a little less time lifting weights and a little more time shooting and dribbling.

Go ahead block me .. They weren't vertical on every play. You can't defend the officiating last night. It was bad both directions. We got the benefit of some, but got the bad end of others. Just because they are a "Final Four" caliber ref squad, doesn't mean they call every game great. Our basketball team is final four caliber and we sure don't play every game great. It's human nature.

Also. If you just add everyone with a differing opinion than you to a block list .. you are going to have a very small forum and point a view on life. People's opinions differ, respect that and move on. I repect that you are a ref and like to defend your kind. They were bad last night. They were bad to both teams. That's my opinion based on what I saw.

I've found that you can try and educate fans over and over yet they still won't get it. It's a losing battle with fans, and if I'm going to have the battle, I'd rather have it with the people that matter, which are the players and coaches. In reality, when I'm officiating, the fans mean nothing to me.

Trust me, I'm not pissed, I'm used to it. It gets old, and I've tried to educate on here, but I always get flamed for it, so I'm just done. Instead of arguing with fans on here that don't have a clue and trying to educate them and getting nowhere, I'm choosing just to ignore. That way I don't get an unnecessary timeout for saying the wrong thing to an uneducated fan that refused to be educated.

                          I appreciate your response though.

Your opinion is wrong, very wrong. Unless you're an official, you have no clue. Goodbye.

So only officials can grade officials ... got it. And its impossible for an opinion to be wrong. If there is a right and wrong its no longer an opinion. I thought they were bad. You thought they were great. Those are opinions and neither is right or wrong. The quicker you accept that, the happier you will be.
