LOL at all the ESPN idiots arguing Arizona State in over Illinois State. What ESPN has failed to do is show the two teams' non-con SOS's. Illinois State's is a meager 186. That fails in comparison though to Arizona State's 304.

ESPN's argument is that ASU has 5 Top 50 RPI wins. Well, when you play in a conference with about 20 total games against the Top 50, of course they're gonna win a few with the many chances they get. ASU has also finished the year going 5-10 and losing in the first game of the PAC-10 tourney.

What a bunch of morons.

What i hate about all these BCS lovers is they think since they saw Ill state play one freaking time in the whole year and then want to proclaim them as a horrible team. I can almost asure that ill state would beat arizona state 2 out of 3 times

Dicky V was trying to say that if you let some of the mid-majors play against majors on a regular basis, that they wouldn't do well. He thinks that ASU has the right to go to the dance because they are from the Pac-10. Not based on what their record is.

I beg to differ. They do well every year against them in the few number of games they do play.

So numbers would tell that if all the MVC schools played at least 5-6 majors a year, that most (just throw Evansville out now, please!) of them would probably do alright and go around .500 or more against them. This would also mean that the majors were losing to the mid-majors, thus balancing out the power just a little more.

How much mid-major basketball does Dicky V actually watch? My guess is not too much. If that's the case, his opinion is not very relevant IMHO.

If you want to be a part of all this join a top level (or BCS as you all call it) conference. Like it or not that's the way it is. WSU decided years ago to not spend the money to be at that level and stayed in the Valley. At least the NCAA greatly expanded the tournament beginning in 1975 so that lower level schools can participate. Before then it was a 16 team tournament filled mostly by the winners of the "BCS" level conferences.

As for the 'Cats it's been a fun up and down ride this year. I think we are in fairly easily as the 3rd place team in the top RPI conference. But unless things change, which I doubt they will, it will be a very short NCAA trip. beats staying home though.

I hope Illinois State makes it - only because of Jank being the coach. Damn good guy that played on some great KSU teams.

My checkbooks been out for years. We are what we are... a part of a top 10 conference that is capable of receiving 4 bids in a good year and 1-2 bids in a below-average year. Can't speak for all Shocker fans, but I don't have a problem with that.

Fever, "idiots" is exactly right as the word for anyone who thinks there is ANY chance that Arizona State will get in at large ahead of Illinois State -- or anyone else, for that matter -- with an RPI at 83rd coming into today. ASU has NO chance unless they win the conference tournament.

Now if you're talking Arizona (39th in the RPI), they seem to be a fairly likely candidate. But I'm confident Illinois State will be there as well.

BSCat, I think you need to read a little history on how the Kansas (read KU) Board of Regents "helped" WSU decide its athletic department's future when football was still alive. If you prefer not to read, set aside about 10 hours and go find one Fred Marrs.

Texas A&M played well and they will be in the Dance.

ISASO, why did WSU not have better representation on the Board of Regents? Why not work with those Regents that have no KU/KSU agenda to help WSU get it's agenda approved? There were and still are four non-BCS schools in the system.

Better yet why not prove to the Regents that football can succeed at WSU? That's exactly what Jon Wefald did in 1986 after being told point-blank that KSU had to improve in football or drop it. He lined up the financial support and hired Bill Snyder.

It's all about choices.

Looking forward KSU is kind of on the knife's edge again with their Football and Basketball programs.

Ron Prince doesn't exactly give you a warm and fuzzy feeling nor does Frank Martin once Huggy's recruits are gone.
