6 weeks sounds way better than 10 to 12
If I've learned anything from fantasy football it's that you can't trust the media when it comes to injuries. Would be great if this is true, though.

Then there's the method used with Nate Funk at CU a few years ago. Altman brought Funk back with maybe a month left in the season, put him in a game. From what happened in the game, Altman determined that Funk was unable to go, so Funk took the rest of the season off and took the shirt.

If we are hoping for a National Title this year, we need an incredible team in March. WSU at full strength including Shamet is more likely to accomplish this than WSU without him. We need all possible talent available for a run like that.

As the link I provided states, they must have been able to produce the medical documentation to show it was a debilitating, season-ended injury. His injury also occurred two weeks later than Landry's, but he didn't have surgery on it until around mid-January, after realizing it wasn't going to heal well enough to play. At that point there was no way he could come back before the end of the season.

Many players have received a medical redshirt after doing a regular redshirt. Its an exemption that is often granted.

Sounds like this is the same injury that Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant suffered this season and Falcons WR Julio Jones and Oklahoma Thunder's Kevin Durant have had. Here's a good article from a Dr.'s perspective - appears to be called a Jones fracture.

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has a broken right foot and is expected out six to eight weeks. But what is the Jones fracture and what is the likelihood of recurrence? USA TODAY Sports …

Evan tried to practice with the injury but it was very painful.

We better hope he is able to come back then. I imagine it's going to be difficult to prove how a broken foot could adversely effect ones ability to play basketball.

I just want the kid to get healthy. Risking more injury just for a chance of a team run in the NCAAs is ridiculous. Everyone saying he needs to come back is just selfish. Long term health is exponentially more important.

I don't think that anyone has said that he should hurry back. They just hope he heals fast. Some people and injuries heal faster than others. A case in point would be Alex Gordon healing faster and coming back before the estimated time by the team doctors/training staff.

KC according to Dr. Bentadick, a Jones fracture is far less serious than a Johnson fracture.

Any rancher can attest that the Johnson fracture is final.

Yeah, but even the Johnson fracture recovery time can be sped up with basic massage therapy.

Landry sure would have helped this tourney.

It will interesting to see where this team is when the decision to bring him back comes.

Hopefully, enough guys are playing well enough that they can get four full year out of him.
