I don't think it was a rule change. It was a rule enforcement.

      • Grady is the real deal.
Rashard much more aggressive offensively. Certainly an improvement in his game.
JRS has improved much more in 3 years than his Edmond buddy.
This is a special group of freshmen.

Maybe the flow would have been better if we would have made more of our open shots. I expect there will be nights where we just sit back and go WOW!
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

The officials have called a lot of stuff that had to be called, bit also called a lot of stuff they could and should have passed on. Definitely haven't passed on much. Again, different crews, differently called games.
I'd venture a guess and say WSU is a pretty damn good defensive team. So your point is garbage.

How the hell are you supposed to play defense in a game called like this? It's absolutely pointless. I could not imagine how frustrated I would be if I was a player out there trying to play defense. Unbelievable. How the **** can you expect 10 men to be concentrated within a 20 foot circle around the basket to not touch each other and yet not let their opponents run layup drills on them?

God, I hope it was just a shitty ass noob crew. Judging by other box scores and watching some stuff when I just got home (9:50 btw, normally 9:20, Wisconsin-No. Illinois were allowed to mug each other at the end), I'm gonna assume it's some blowholes who have never officiated a Division I game before.

Purely unwatchable. Totally killed the excitement of opening night. Zero flow at all. Imagine how frustrating it was on the players/coaches. I can't even comment on the actual game yet because the foul calling was the "show".

          • We ended the first half with 4 Freshmen and 1 Soph on the floor. The best thing about Freshmen is they become Soph. The best thing about our Freshmen is they already play like Soph. or more.

That under the basket putback play by LS had me at hello. Hamilton has a nose for the ball. Taylor knows how to score. MM is going to be very very special. With the new rules, we will need all of these guys in there providing quality depth. We will go for all the marbles this Season and why not.

Soon we will add Frankamp to the fold and we really want and need a healthy FVV. Grady is our go to big. Baker will have a great Season. I was afraid BWam was going to be escorted to the ticket booth by 3G himself when he received the nice pass and sputtered. Even so, he will also help us and get his chances. We will be able to play a 10=12 man rotation in most games and not blink an eye in doing so.

            • The most frustrating calls to me were the multiple times that a player was called for a foul going straight up for a rebound and being boxed out. Essentially the call was that you committed a foul because someone on the other team boxed you out and you didn't get the rebound.

So fair warning: if you jump for a rebound and a defender then makes contact with you in order to box you out, you just committed a foul.

              • I got a chuckle towards the end of the first half when Ty was pulled after the possession when the ball was knocked into the backcourt and a halfcourt desparation shot occurred. Ty ran straight to the bench, and Gregg stood right in his path as if to say, "Oh no. You are going to stop and let me rip you for a bit." I texted Doc, who had a better view. Response: "He was looking for a place to hide."

                • You expect the fouls with the hand checking. However, I though that there was very little consistency with how body fouls were called. The players don't know what a foul is.

                  • No one fouled out despite the new rules. Grady the only one with 4 fouls. That makes me feel a little better.

They were nose to nose on the side and only one was doing any talking.

Yep. Also several instances where CSU players lowered their shoulders and bullrushed to the hoop and got the foul. Absolutely bogus.

I predicted 80 fouls total for both teams. My guess was 14 high.

ESPN will have a cat. ESPN usually schedules only two hours for a telecast of a college basketball game. Our game tonight ran about 2.5 hours.

If games are slowed by foul calls, then ESPN's programming schedules will suffer in some fashion.

                            • If we have newcomers that are this good, and the only player to NOT score in this game was Fred Van Vleet, and if Hamilton and Kelly can drain threes....

We are going to destroy some teams. I can't believe how good Shamet looks and Grady is gonna be so good. How many times have we even had three true freshman in double figures in their first game like that? And they are doing it on a team that wasn't supposed to even need them much.

                              • We were getting picked as a top ten team based on peoole who didn't even do much in this game.

                                What does that mean?

We just got carried by a dominant group of completely new faces. We were supposed to be a title contender with Fred, Ron, Evan, Anton, Shaq, Dubya, Nurger, Rashard and Zach.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what is taking place.

Oh and Nurger is now redshirting...
