Good win/start. Now sit FVV for the next two weeks. No need to make matters worse against Tulsa and Emporia St. Hopefully he'll be ready by USC.

75% of our throws were made last night and we shot 11 more than our foes and this needs to continue. Hamilton led our team with 7 rebounds in just 15 minutes followed by BWam and Shamet with 5. Overall, we won the battle of the boards 48-29, blocked 4 shots with only 8 turnovers. We only had 4 steals but now understand you can get rung up by just looking at somebody wrong? Yikes!!!Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Reviewed the Top 25 box scores this morning. Fouls per game as follows:
27,33,33,34,36,37,38,39,39,39,42,44,46,46,47,47,48 ,48,51,51,59,66 for an average of 43.2.
Ours, of course, was the 66. The 59 occurred in Lawrence. Throw in the 54 from Manhattan and the average for the state of Kansas was 59.7.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Can Landry Shamet be the back-up point guard on this team? He looks very capable to me, but can you really take him out of his natural position? I guess you can when his natural position is occupied by an All American. Maybe he's just the first guard off the bench, regardless of which guy (FVV or RB) needs a break first. Or do you slide RB into the 3 spot and start all 3 of them? I'm glad we've got 3G making these decisions. What wonderful "problems" to have. Oh, and all of these freshmen have incredibly high ceilings, but in particular, Landry and Eric won't take long to be in the national spotlight. They are both ready to be big stars under the bright lights."You Don't Have to Play a Perfect Game. Your Best is Good Enough."

I think that Gregg would like at least 3 assists to 1 TO. Hamilton played a lot better than Shaq or Bush W. We will see if that is a one game occurrence or not. I would hope that Shaq would be motivated from this.
While his A/TO isn't what we all want it to be, I like the fact he only had 1 turnover. Remember, he's been a score-first point guard/shooting guard for most of his career. You aren't going to break that habit over night. However, I have faith under the tutelage of HCGM and FVV he will learn the "ways" of a Shocker PG. Finally, his assist to LS in the corner after his penetration was very nice. So, he has it in him.
I know this is just one game against a team that isn't as good as some of the upcoming opponents, but the Freshman showed a glimpse of why HCGM that they were special enough to be a part of this great team.
Some of you sound a little down on our Sophomores (and overall, they were overshadowed by our Freshman) I actually liked what I saw out of them. RK definitely looks to have improved his offense and I look forward to seeing what he does in future games this year. Shaq got into early foul trouble in the first half. However, I thought (even though his stat line doesn't show it) he played with a lot of energy in the 2nd half, both on offense and defense. Providing consistent energy has always been his biggest challenge. Zach Brown didn't have one of his better games, but I liked the fact he's now trying to attack the rim off the dribble. With his athleticism and the way fouls are being called, this could pay huge dividends for him in the future.
Lastly, I can't believe I've written this much after a game and haven't mentioned RB or FVV (until now). This just shows you how bright our future is.
Final thought...our freshman are freshman, they WILL have bad games (again, maybe not LS). However, I know HCGM will develop them into the studs their potential is showing.
