Some things to like and some not to after one game.
There's often times a desire to project success upon your opponent. Barclay certainly had his team prepared to battle his mentor. I think they'll be better than 8th in their conference but don't confuse that team with Dayton.
It's nice when a walk on can give his team meaningful minutes. Well done JRS. Next time pass on the 3 and the drive though. Your job is to distribute.
I questioned whether or not Eric Hamilton could grasp the game, mentally, quickly enough to be a factor. He's still a freshman but clearly he's going to help this team. He got a charge call though that had Jake White looking for the nearest bridge from which to jump.
I don't care how much you listened to me, or anyone, about how good Landry Shamet is, he's better than you think. The way he carries himself and understands the game, it's unreal. It's POSSIBLE that he's got a better understanding of the game than Fred VanVleet did at the same point in their career. I hope that he progresses on the same curve that Fred has.

@WuDrWu: I think Shamet, will be amazing this year. He might average near double digits if not double digits a game for us depending upon his minutes. I think once he gets more muscle on him he will be Fred, Ron, and Tekele all in one. That doesn't mean that he'll been better than all of them, just that he'll get the all around game, scoring and defensively that they had. I don't think he'll be as good of a passer as Fred is, but he'll be good for sure

Anton Grady is the real deal on both ends of the court. He's going to tear up the Valley. He'll do well in the NCAA tournament as well.
Shaq didn't have a great game, but I loved his motor, mostly because it didn't seem to me to be forced. He seemed to be going fast naturally. That's a GREAT sign.
Baker is so good....so so good. He plays a different game right now. It will be really fun when others join him "at his level".
Taylor took his ass chewing like a man. Hopefully that bodes well for the future. He's an incredible talent, but the learning curve is steep. You're supposed to play as if your hair is on fire, not the ball.Last edited by WuDrWu; November 14, 2015, 11:43 AM.

I love your last line: "...play as if your hair is on fire, not the ball." You need to send that one in to HCGM.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

When Tyrone Taylor Two threw the lob over BW, it looked like a good pass from my angle. BW just kept leaning on his man and never released to go get the ball. Now I remember playing softball 40 years ago and our coach telling the outfielder, "Never throw the ball home after dark." ...................our catcher simply could not see well enough to catch the ball. Perhaps that lob pass woulda worked with Grady.

I think that Gregg would like at least 3 assists to 1 TO. Hamilton played a lot better than Shaq or Bush W. We will see if that is a one game occurrence or not. I would hope that Shaq would be motivated from this.
Went back to Fred's freshman season. Over the first 14 games, he had 25 assists, 26 TOs. Glad that Marshall didn't think that would not cut it for a PG.

At the same time, players need to learn how to adjust. It's been called this way all game, just keep your hands off. It's really not that hard to play defense or get rebounding position without having your hands all over somebody. Make an adjustment, play hands off basketball. Yes, the way these guys are calling it sucks, but good teams will learn how to adjust.
I'm impressed with the color guy on Cox 22. What's his name, Bob Hull? He was very knowledgeable and explained beautifully why the 2 illegal screens were called on Charleston Southern. Bruce, on the other hand, is typical Bruce
