Why do you say this? I've actually noticed on more than one occasion when Taylor gets scolded he has an odd look on his face. It looks like he is either very disappointed with himself for messing up or he isn't too happy someone is correcting him. He also doesn't seem to look Marshall in the eyes when he's getting a talking too.

I'd actually say from mannerisms I've observed from all the new comers so far, Taylor strikes me as the one most likely to have an attitude issue. I could be off base, but I've noticed it on more than one occasion.

Haha id go back through the game and get a screenshot of his face, but I have absolutely no desire to sit through that game again.

    • Did Mookie Blaylock have a son named Ty Taylor?

      • I had two thoughts from this game:

        1) Really impressed with a lot of our young players.

        2) **** the NCAA. That game was unwatchable.

Perhaps that lob pass woulda worked with Grady.
Both Ron Baker's pass to EO 3 years ago and Tyrone Taylor's pass to BW last night were bad decisions. Teachable moments. I do like both the senior and the freshman.

          • 1. Really impressed with Shamet. Quiet, complete game.

            2. Putting Fred on the floor at all was stupid, IMO.

            3. Great game by Kelly. Fantastic at the point of the press.

            4. Shaq can hardly stay on the floor with a normal whistle.

            5. TTT has quickness we have not seen since......Ronnie Ryer? Tony Martin?

            6. OK, ShockRef.........TomBush is number 11 or 12

            7. At this point, McDuffie coulda redshirted.

            8. Charleston made about as many miracle 3-pointers as anyone could have imagined.

            9. Grady is about as foul-prone as Darius was.

            10. Y'all really need to get there at 6. Watch the dunkathon. My goodness.

            • As much as I loved seeing our freshman excel so much, I have to wonder if they would have done the same under the other rules in a game that HAD flow.

We always talk about how a player's perception of the game slows down as you get more experience. Well that game was already slowed down on reality. It may have enabled them to shine more than they will in a faster game.

I understand what you think you're seeing, but I assure you he's taking it well. The blisterings coach dishes out on occasion aren't enjoyable. I honestly can't remember 1 kid that at least most of the time "took it well". They are proud young men, not used to being dressed down.

Ty is learning, and he's got an exceptional attitude that is conducive to taking criticism, whether it's constructive or not.

                • Just watched the ESPN clip for this game(on ESPN 3). It was 4 highlights, all were of Baker. I mean, yea Ron is great, but the story of last night was not Baker, it was the supporting cast. Not a single other name mentioned.

                    1. Quiet? lol Under control, sure.

                    2. He and Gregg wanted to win. Fred was out there mostly because Fred demanded to be out there. But I'm with you.

                    3. I'm not sure I'd say great, but it was a damned fine start.

                    4. Eh...I loved his motor. A poor matchup early in a foul plagued game doesn't bother me. I like what he'll bring against Duke in the round of 8.

                    5. Ronnie Ryer? You and I are getting old. He's the quickest kid I remember.

                    6. Never ignore @ShockRef: or for that matter, his better half @RefChick:.

                    7. Yes, but he's so talented, he may just be helpful late in the season.

                    8. No kidding.

                    9. Nah....it just seemed like it. He's going to be a load at both ends of the court. Very smart.

                    10. Indeed. Some of us have to work though! ;)

                    • We had 5 scorers in double figures and only one of them was on the squad last year.

                      • This game points to one hell of a season season for our current freshman class (including Nurger). That will be an insane starting five.

Is stuff like that annoying? Yes. Because you're right, there was more to it than just him. But in order to get the full story on freshman who they're not spending the summer drooling over would mean that they'd have to do some research. Which doesnt seem like many ESPN writers are doing these days.

It's true but before we complain too much, let's remember that there are advantages to the "here is the potential All-American player at a BIG TIME PROGRAM that everyone should know and we are going to hype him endlessly" style of reporting. We have been on the outside of that hype machine for many years. I take a certain perverse pleasure in now being viewed as an elite program that gets the advantage of having the media pre-fab story line constantly drilled into the minds of the general public.

loved shaq's motor, too, especially in the second half.
doc, is it fair to say that eric hamilton is the best thing to happen to shaq's game?
Dominance is a state of mind.

Interesting question I haven't thought of....I don't know? Eric is certainly make a case for PT. That being said, he makes a LOT of mistakes that don't show up on the scoresheet. Mistakes Shaq makes far less frequently.

BUT Eric's motor runs on HIGH a lot and he's got a ton of skill. I feel like Shaq has been coming on....is it because of Eric? You may be on to something!
