Maryland had 22 turnovers last night, 8 by the freaking point guard. This against a team not necessarily known for defense or forcing turnovers. I can go dig up hundreds of box scores so far this year that have been played at the same "pace" and show far fewer turnovers than the clip Maryland was putting running up last night.Originally posted by proshox View Post

I'm not on the 'garbage' train, but just because they don't make turnover highlight reels doesn't mean they don't happen or matter. Aside from the 8 turnovers, he had a very good game. His assist number looks great, though I'm not sure he can count on his team shooting 65% from 3 until the last 2 minutes in every game. Still, 8 is an insane-high number, and as great as that crossover was his team did end up losing.Originally posted by _kai_ View PostComment

Just reviewed some of their KenPom stats. Trimble is a better offensive threat in terms of scoring the ball, but definitely does turn it over more (5% higher turnover rate, which, while significant, doesn't make him a turnover machine by any stretch).
Fred is probably the better overall point guard by a little bit, but it depends what you need. If you don't have a ton of other offensive threats, Trimble might be the best option. If you need a facilitator to get the ball to scorers, FVV would be the best option.

Great crossovers are when you are one on one with a person and you cause him to trip. Not when that person is sprinting around a screen already off balance. I have a feeling that all of our losses are going to turn out to be not so bad. Our schedule will end up being fairly strong and it will all work out.
It's gonna be so fun watching the ship turn back in the right direction. It's gonna make WSU an even more popular team this year.
I can't wait to watch Fred again. Does anyone else remember the last minute or two of the first half against Tulsa? Think that may have helped us pull out of a couple of those one-possession games in Florida?
