In cutting the fans some slack, there have not been many memorable seasons in Aggie history. There were a few nice seasons under wacko Billy Gillispie. Gillispie is now coaching juco ball in Tejas."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Peter Principle
The Peter principle is a concept in management theory formulated by Laurence J. Peter in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and "managers rise to the level of their incompetence.""Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Gonzaga about to go down, at home, to St. Mary's. There is now very little chance either team threatens WSU's seeding.
I think Gonzaga missing the dance altogether would be a positive for the Shox. It would end a long streak of 18 consecutive appearances. WSU wants to fully take Gonzaga's spot as top "mid-major" program. I know people hate the term. I do too, but still, I find value in being considered the best program outside the major conferences. Gonzaga has earned national respect over the course of many years. I want WSU to do the same and take over that throne.

UNLV hit a runner to go up 3 at home against Nevada, Nevada came down and drilled a 3 to tie it, UNLV missed, Nevada hit a 3 with 2.4 seconds to go up 3, and UNLV, without a TO, went the length of the court and hit a running 3 at the buzzer (ball out of his hands with .1 on the clock) to send it to overtime.
I care nothing for any study or metrics, but you FOUL EVERY EFFING time in that situation. Letting him shoot the 3 was criminally negligent.

And Nevada never had a chance in OT. UNLV scored early and often. 102-91 final.
Here's what's wrong with the RPI. New Mexico State gets blasted by 30 in the 316 on Monday. They then go home and beat #157 CSU Bakersfield and #295 Seattle.....and their RPI has climbed 20 spots this week.

The media emphasis on RPI, which I guess results from its being widely known and objective (as it is; something can be objective yet silly or of very limited value, because it's based on criteria that are measurable but whose significance is greatly overrated, as is true of the RPI), is way, way disproportionate to its actual importance in determining who's in and where they're seeded. It's some good old GIGO: garbage in, garbage out -- maybe even worse than the climate models according to which we should all have either cooked or drowned by now.
