  • As an example, WSU fell 4 spots after losing @ #18 UNI last year. For full comparison, UNI ended the year #11 in the RPI.

At the time, WSU was riding a 9-game winning streak. KU was riding a massive 1-game winning streak before getting schooled by a team coached by Travis Ford.

    • The over-seeding/ranking that KU enjoys on virtually an annual basis, and the under-seeding/ranking that WSU typically (but not always) suffers from, was combined into a giant petrie dish last March in an arena in Omaha, for everyone to see. It did not go well from the KU side of the argument, but that's okay, things like this are really just a real life application on history repeating itself over and over, with everyone oblivious to the pattern.

        Not everyone.

        • Approx half the voters in the AP poll still don't have WSU Ranked

We went from 11 voters to 35 voters in the last week.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Definitely a good trend. Just pointing out a statement of fact.

                • I'm OK with the polls, perhaps except for the preferential treatment afforded to KU. I'm just glad were back in the top 25.

For starters, look at Indiana. They are tied with #3 Iowa for 1st in the Big Ten, but for some inexplicable reason, Maryland is sitting squarely at #7. I don't think that's fair to Indiana.

I am sure I can find other examples, but I'm more happy with the fact we're back in the top 25 again.

All we need to do is take care of business against Loyola and Evansville this week. I'm thinking if we can beat UE, I'm thinking we will only lose 1 valley game (during regular season) at the most.

We will move our way up as many of the teams ahead of us lose.

Our guys just need to take care of their business and consistently put their best effort out in every game the rest of the way.

A few of those people are ones that have had us ranked the highest the last few years. Our biggest haters actually all have us ranked. Guess some people really do like to focus on quality losses.

That will probably be in our favor in 1-2 weeks. Gotta keep piling up the W's. Or maybe losses. I'm not sure any more. WSU plays 3 teams higher in the RPI than OkieSt in the next 2 weeks, so it might be good to lose a couple of those.

‏@Gary:ParrishCBS … So, sure, I could rank UK. It’s a reasonable thing to do. But, FWIW, no team I have ranked has more sub-50 losses than top-50 wins.

That may be in part because of the unbalance of schedules in the Big 10.

No tears for Tom Crean from me...they could be undefeated and I'd want them slighted...Dwight Schrute squared....

                          • I'm still not sure about the "We will lose one, or we will lose 2 in the Valley" or whatever the number is. We are head and shoulders better than every other team in our conference. It's not close. We played badly at home against EU and had the point guard that we were intentionally playing off of have a career night and the stripes trying to game us, and we found a way to win. Barring some unforeseen massive implosion or worse, I see us running the table in the Valley and just working our way up from here.

I want Tom Crean to be just as successful as he needs to be - no more, no less.

I'm not as concerned about UE as I am about @ISUb. If they shoot like they did against UE, they will be hard to beat.
