Even if that happens KU would only drop a few on the seed lines down to # 4 overall #1 seed.

    • John Rothstien dropped us from 22 to out of his pole......we went 2-0 by about 100 points. Sounds about right!:good:

He dropped us, but not out of the poll. Down to 24

If I'm reading his charts right, he had Duke and Purdue both pass us in a week where they both lost. He also had UK jump from NR to 19 despite UK just beating Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

Edit: He also kept Clemson in front of us despite losing this week. Clemson has 7 losses.

I really think the only thing left for us to do is pile up wins. This year has a lot of parity at the top. Lots of losses even for the highest ranked teams. That being said, our 14-5 still stands out as "not that many wins." The fact that we got up to #22 with only 14 wins and 5 losses speaks to how much respect we really do get. A lot of other teams will continue to lose, and in some cases, to teams that aren't that great (like KU and OSU). As that happens more and more, our record will continue to stack up better and better and we may yet see the top 10 if we don't lose another game. I really think that's what will happen, too.

Our RPI won't matter because people know Ron and Fred by name now. As long as our record looks appropriate at all, we will get lots of respect because of what they and HCGM have already accomplished.

Does anybody else think we are about to beat Evansville by 20 on their home floor? I do.

            • A win at Evansville, as weird as it sounds, would be a nice win for the resume. The last thing we need is another loss the week after we finally get back in the polls.

They only shoot that well against Evansville because Evansville doesn't defend worth a $hit.

Very true. I do hope for a blowout of ISUb, they might have climbed to the top of the "worst fans" list. You'd think they were undefeated with the way some of their fans like to talk.

I agree. My buddy (UE Alum) and I watched a little of the game on Sunday. Pardon me for my relative lack of player knowledge, but the guy who was on fire for ISUb was getting clear looks at the basket. No one was going out to the line to close out on him. I bet that won't happen when we play them.

Don't know why Marty doesn't understand that his guys have to close out on the 3point shooters, especially if they're hot.

Marty should know better. He was a much better player (Indiana Mr. Basketball his senior year) than his kids are.

                      • On the same note, didn't see an excuse for UE to drop that one. The Sycamore arena had about 3,000 people in it and was about as quiet as a morgue.

Not a full, loud house. No excuse.

                        • I don't want to rain on the parade, but Scott had 24 points and was 4-5 from 3PT in Wichita. He's shooting 44% from 3 in 2 seasons at ISUb. The dude can straight up shoot it.

Now, you might think he would learn to act like he's made one before, but perhaps that will come with more time.

From what I saw, its their depth that is their "excuse". In the critical part of the 2nd half where they needed to make a run, they just ran out of gas. They were getting sloppy with bad passes and no movement. They even switched to a zone for some reason (assuming to help with that). Zone against a hot 3 point team isn't the best idea.

The big question no one is asking is "will he finish his career at Indiana State or will he finish his career in the Big Ten?"

Your "act like he's made one before" comment made me think of Kyle Weems, who fortunately for MoSt, stayed in the MVC. I don't doubt that some other programs already have Scott on speed dial... We'll see what he chooses to do. I don't have my hopes up.

I should take this post over to the Sycamore board and induce widespread panic.

They have plenty of excuses, at least when they are at home. Evansville is actually a smaller school than either Friends or Kansas Newman, if you can believe it. They never should have been allowed to move from D2 to D1 by the NCAA. For every dollar that WSU spends on their entire athletics program, UE spends 43 cents; for every dollar that WSU spends on men's basketball, UE spends 37 cents.
