There was a Selection Show watch party at CKA for this. I was confident that WSU could hang with anyone but Kentucky so I wanted to be as far away from Kentucky as possible. Sure enough, we were the 5 seed in the same bracket. So I was already annoyed. When VCU popped up next on the screen, I too let out a wirty dord. My wife tried to reassure me..."It's okay. It's okay." No, it's not, I told her. I had a bad feeling all week.

There really is something legitimate about tournament experience. VCU of course had just come off Final Four, whereas it was first shot for our guys. They looked scared for about the first 30 minutes. By the time they started playing like themselves, the margin of error was gone. If that game could have made it to OT, I think we'd have been fine. It wasn't meant to be.

When the national media felt sorry for Trey Woodall from Pitt crying at the press conference, it made me mad. No one felt sorry for Stutz the previous year. He had one shot in the NCAA and had one of his worst games.

We needed to play DK more and early. That game was meant for him and we didn't figure it out until it was too late.

It does take some time to perform the poll dynamic equivalent to grading on a curve, for a few selected and protected programs.

Ill reiterate. There's a reason why USA Today is the only publication that uses and acknowledges the coaches poll.

Correct @newshock1234. WSU needed to schedule difficult in the non-con knowing the current weak state of the MVC. I think the tough non con SOS will be yet another positive factor that will help WSU's seeding come March. The committee has made numerous comments that they "like" teams who schedule tough games. What that exactly means I don't know, but even if that just works out as a sort of subconscious tie breaker, one way or the other, it will help WSU.

I believe what it ultimately means is that SOMETHING has to happen with the rest of the MVC or we need to move.

For years I’ve been told that the top 25 is merely a BCS lovefest. WSU never gets a fair shake regardless of the strength of their resume.

Today, as a Shocker team with very few quality wins is earning tons of national respect and prepares to become the highest ranked 5 loss team in the country, these same people are telling me to simmer down because this is obviously no big deal and is simply to be expected.

Absolutely bizarre.

I have the usual complaints about certain teams but overall this feels fine. We have plenty of opportunity to keep moving up if we take care of biz.
