  • The Shocks failed to get any votes in the polls today. If we had won at Seton Hall, we would probably be in the top 25. What a difference just one more measly point in regulation would have made.

BTW, Seton Hall isn't getting any votes either.

      • Meh. I'll start worrying if we lose a game that we shouldn't lose. Seton Hall on the road definitely wasn't a gimme. I'm still not too worried about where we rank in December.

        • Wichita State back to getting votes with 3 in the latest AP poll. Unexpectedly SIU is missing in both polls.

          • WSU's schedule in the MVC is soft enough, it will be a slow climb back into the top 25. Probably need to run the table through the month of January. A win at Evansville on 1/31 to complete the sweep might finally get WSU back into the top 25 for the first poll in February. Hard to see WSU gaining enough ground in a mere 2-3 weeks unless a lot of other teams around them stumble. The game at UNI on 1/20 will be big, but UNI isn't the strong #2 in the conference that we had hoped they might be able to be.

Looking at all the teams listed. WSU is the only team with 5 losses to receive votes. Utah Cincinnati and WSU are the only 3 to receive votes with 4 or more losses.

IMO your analysis presents an optimistic view of the Shockers returning to the Top 25; I hope your assessment is correct. If the Shockers avoid any stumbles, mid-February looks like the earliest date for a return from my perch.

                • Currently the Shockers are the only team with 5 losses getting votes. There are no teams with four losses getting votes. Teams with three losses in the poll and getting votes includes, Butler, Iowa, UConn, Utah, and Cincy.

Utah just crapped the bed on their California road trip.

                  • In the latest Lunardi Bracketology he has us as the Auto-Bid for an 11 seed.

I asked him on twitter if he would have us in even without the auto bid. His response was Yes, but last 4 in. Just an interesting point of info

UNI is currently in the 2nd 4 out. Evansville and SIU not mentioned at all.

I seldom agree with Lunardi but in this instance I will acknowledge that I think he has the situation judged correctly.

Edit: I hope his West Region with KU as #1 and the Shockers as #11 comes to pass.

                        • Looks like WSU has jumped up into the mid 40s of the RPI now and the 20s of Kenpom.

                          • Don't look now, but the Summit, Colonial, MAC and Big West are all better conferences this year than the MVC. Horizon is so close you can taste it. Bruce might even say the stench is palpable. This is all pretty "special" if you ask me.
