  • Got the win over Indiana State in convincing fashion. Improved to 12-5 in a week laden with confusion in the top 25.

We're going to a start gaining some real traction this week. I bet we'll be getting solid votes. It will be interesting tomorrow.

    • Seton Hall takes out Providence on the road, USC getting solid wins in the PAC 12, and Iowa may be the best team in the Big 12 take it to mighty Michigan State again. All of this helps the Shocks out. And of course Alabama getting a big win.

        • Not really surprised by the votes in the poll, I think people in the know realize we were without Fred, and really 3 of our 4 top guards were out during those losses. Fred , Conner and Landry. Would make a difference on any team. Actually we could have easily still won two of those games with a little bit of shooting and taking care of the ball. USC and Alabama were very winnable even being depleted at the guard position.

Well, top 26, actually -- if his were a ballot in the AP or coaches poll, WSU would not have been included or received any poll points, unlike those where the Shocks do appear in someone's top 25 (more of which will likely be forthcoming). But it's still nice recognition and ink, and it may help others who vote in the official polls to put WSU on their ballots and give the Shocks some more poll points.

Need to beat the UNI's, though. Even though they're struggling, people will still remember that they beat Carolina in Frozen Falls and therefore give the Shocks credit if WSU does the job. But a loss and guys will probably be wondering why WSU couldn't do what Loyola (Loyola!) was able to do. So it's a big one coming up to keep the poll momentum moving in the right direction.

                • UNI is not elite by any means, but a double digit win at their place, considering everyone knows they beat #1 (at the time) at home earlier this year, would get some attention and probably give some voters the needed ammo to move us back onto the ballot.

The game on Wednesday is a big one!

                          • A couple of token #25 spots there, which I guess is better than nothing, but does Soren Petro really think the USC team that barely escaped against WSU without LeFred is better than the Shocks are with him? And a similar question could probably apply to Bozich and Grammer, although the New Mexican had the grace at least to move the Shocks all the way to #24. Living under the radar...

Then again, as I look back, I see the words "Soren Petro really think" and the question appears in a whole new light. Those four words probably don't belong in the same sentence, much less in consecutive order, when it comes to WSU.

I don't have a problem with it. USC has had some pretty good wins the last couple of weeks. Granted they actually have had chances for good wins, whereas we don't until March.
