Jim Rome Interview
- Our guys have "national championship" on their brains.
- Reaction to FVV #1 ranking by Fox? Answer: Not hard to believe. Wants to win more than even coach does. Going to make NBA exec very happy some day.
- USA could have won gold at Pan Am games with guy like Fred Van Vleet running their point guard. They were missing a point guard and playing a lot of 1v1 basketball.
- Evan Wessel wins.
- New recruits may be top 100 ranked but must still be "everyday guys". Must be willing to sacrifice, work out on their own, attend classes, etc., every day. Not just be on 4 days and take a day off.
- Coaches like Brown, Boeheim, etc. cheating is not a victimless crime. They are nice guys but their cheating gives other coaches a bad rap -- makes others think everybody is doing it.
- Never put a ceiling on what could be acheived at Wichita State.
- Ralph Miller was a "larger than life" figure that intimidated Rome when he interviewed him for the first time.
- Offensively how does 30 second shot clock affect WSU? Answer: "Thank goodness for Fred Van Vleet and Ron Baker, they can create their own shot." Must eliminate one of the "phases" they have traditionally gone through when breaking down the offense through to the final "clock play". [sorry, didn't catch the phases, hopefully somebody else remembers them?]Last edited by Kung Wu; November 4, 2015, 04:01 PM.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
