From not in his top 26 after a Final 4 run to 35-1 and #7 final ranking...seems pretty accurate to me.

        • Gottlieb picked the Shox accurately in 2013. He picked them in the same spot after the season as he did before the season. That means he picked them accurately. Just because evrry poll, the Selection Committee, and every other metric disagrees with him doesn't mean he's wrong. That's the advantage of being Doug gottlieb. When you're Doug Gottlieb, you get to decide when you're right and when you're wrong.

          • His hard-on for making slight remarks about WSU is just funny now. Before it was infuriating to hear it, now it's just a joke. It's to the point that it's clearly something personal with him.

No doubt. Doug has gone to the well one too many times now, and it's clear what he is doing. It's kinda sad that he keeps repeating the same thing year after year and keeps getting proven wrong year after year.

"without Carl Hall and Malcom Armsted they will be not be able to produce" 34-0; Loss in R32 to NC runner-up

"without Cleanothy Early, and having to rely on Darius Carter in the post they will struggle" 29-4; Sweet Sixteen

"two very good college players, lost their best big, best defender, #9 is really high" National Championship?

It doesn't really matter what he says, because no matter if we lose in first round or the final four he will point to that last loss and say "see, I told you." His comments after the UK game were just strait garbage. Just another schmuck who hasn't learned that Marshall doesn't rebuild, he reloads.

              #9 is really high?

So is Ron's talent, Fred's IQ, Conner's shooting percentage, Zach's athleticism, Evan's effort, Shaq's strength, Anton's skills, Bush's height, Rashard's motor, Landry's vertical, all our incoming recruits potential, McDuffie's future draft pick, and of course Gregg's recruiting and coaching abilities.

              • My biggest disappointment from '14 wasn't just the loss to Kentucky. It was not getting a shot at OK State in that same round. Oh my. How fun would it have been to hammer Dougie's boys by 20 and move on to an undefeated title? Sigh.

I honestly think it's because we didn't recruit him.

Are those actual quotes from Goatlube? If so, you should pretty that up, make an image, and put it on Twitter.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Fred and Ron are not two "very good" college players, they're two college LEGENDS that were crucial pieces to helping the team get to the Final Four even though neither was the star of that team, to having to turn around and become full time starters the next year. Not only did they become starters, they became two of the BEST at their position, and certainly the most well rounded. Sure, Cotton and Carter left, but Gottlieb doesn't seem to realize just how much Baker and VanVleet impact the game. The have such an impact that OTHER players can be good because of them, their teammates rally behind them. Sure the two may not become All stars in the NBA, but they are all stars in college.
Not to mention Gregg freaking Marshall who is one of the best coaches in the country and has gotten a National Coach of the Year award... the man knows how to do his job to put it simply.
You'd figure at this point in Gregg, Fred, and Ron's careers they'd be given the benefit of the doubt.

                        • I'm surprised he said we have two good players. He's never going to say much positive about WSU, even after we win it all. Probably will say something like a weak year in college basketball or we had the easiest road ever to the championship.
We must have really pissed him off.
