Well, four cuts left to go, probably three guards and one big (the remaining 16 are two centers, five forwards, and nine guards). And Turgeon will probably lobby for Trimble, so that fills one guard slot.

Go get 'em, Fred and Ron.
Cutting two forwards wouldn't be out of the question would it? 6 guards filling 3 spots seems sort of risky.

Ron and Fred are the best two guards there. It's some stiff competition, but don't hold your breath on them getting cut. If someone asked me to rank the 9 guards, they would not be in my bottom half. I'm pretty sure this team wants to win actual basketball games, not just compile a list of NBA prospects. Those coaches know they can take Ron and Fred straight to the bank. They also know that the tandem gains you more than just one or the other because they have a ton of experience together. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd predict them as the starters before I'd predict them getting cut.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Wichita State's Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet survived the first round of cuts at USA Basketball's Pan-American Games training camp and are among a group of 16 players still in the running for spots on the final competition roster.
