I agree. I think it's worth reminding myself and others that Marshall excels at teaching. He takes players and makes vast improvements to them with each additional year. I think it's very likely that some of our returning forwards will be much improved next season and we do have size. We went through the worst part of the learning curve and came out 30-5. The man is a master.

Yes, I know Markis will only be a freshman, but this lineup give WSU the best combo of size, athleticism, and scoring/shooting. (IMHO)

I'm not sure how Shaq with his 14 mpg and his 4 pf per game fits in at the starting center.

Very good point. He limited his own minutes on a team that REALLY needed him to be in there more, whereas Tekele was simply buried on one of the deepest teams we've had.

Tekele carved out 13 unavailable minutes for himself by being that good. Shaq couldn't stay in longer even though it was gift wrapped and rolled down a red carpet on a silver platter for him. It's completely different.

That'd be the basketball equivalent of the backyard 500 football game. By that I mean Fred just sits back and throws the ball at someone for an instant score.

Fred is an interesting prospect. He probably would grade poorly at a typical NBA workout. He's short, not lightning fast, can't jump real high and isn't a deadly shooter. After they run him through all the tests, they come to the conclusion that he's not a world class athlete. Fred probably doesn't even excel at the 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 drills. You can't replicate Fred's abilities in a laboratory, it has to be in a real game situation. I have no doubt Fred could make an NBA point guard, but will someone give him a shot?

He can dunk. I'd say he has decent hops.

He also averaged 2.7 PF per game. He will have to improve on that. I very much expect Shaq to sometimes be limited by foul trouble, but overall, I expect he will average ~ 20 mpg, 9 points, 4.5 boards, 1.5 blocks, 3+ PF. His production should be about like DC gave us.

Wessel will start and play at least as many minutes. Don't underestimate the value of that kid.

As I start to look at the roster, if CF can be the top 40 recruit he was out of high school during his third college season, then a starting line-up of FVV, CF, RB, EW, and SM seems likely. I'm not a fan of that. I want CF off the bench backing up Ron and Fred so that they only have to go 30 mpg. I want Evan and Zach at the three. I want Kelly and McDuffie at the 4 and Shaq and BWam at the 5 with either an improved Nurger or Hamilton acting as the 5th forward/center. Of course for all of that to happen, the two 6-9 freshman (McDuffie and Hamilton) have to play big and play angry.

Wufan, perhaps McDuffie and Hamilton both have grown, since signing LOI, but it always seems to me that our incoming players lose and inch or two once they arrive. Must have something to do with the Wichita water supply or something.

You are correct. Hamilton and McDuffie did indeed grow since committing per several articles. Zach Brown still claims to be 6-7.
