From what heard, during practice squad games this semester,he was unguardable.
He'll still have to add a little bulk and work on his defensive game some. That said, he is a hard worker and I believe he will be a Shocker success. The Assman

CF had two concerns at KU:
1. Size. Still a concern at the 2 (though he is surprisingly athletic).
2. For the first time in his life he didn't shoot the ball well. I don't expect that to continue, but you never know. Not shooting well relegates him to a decent back-up, but he's still good.
As a side note, where did the "poor defense" grumblings come from?Livin the dream

After reading some posts on here from people that know much more about CF than I do, I'm honestly more excited and optimistic than ever. If we put a 6-8 PF (not saying he would start over EW) and if BW comes on strong his senior year, that size would enable us to play Fred CF and Ron at the same time, in my opinion. Can you imagine Fred's assists with that lineup?
The sheer talent and combinations we could put on the court next year is just stupid. Can't freaking wait.

As I start to look at the roster, if CF can be the top 40 recruit he was out of high school during his third college season, then a starting line-up of FVV, CF, RB, EW, and SM seems likely. I'm not a fan of that. I want CF off the bench backing up Ron and Fred so that they only have to go 30 mpg. I want Evan and Zach at the three. I want Kelly and McDuffie at the 4 and Shaq and BWam at the 5 with either an improved Nurger or Hamilton acting as the 5th forward/center. Of course for all of that to happen, the two 6-9 freshman (McDuffie and Hamilton) have to play big and play angry.Livin the dream

At North he flourished with the ball in his hands. He could create his own shot and actually surprised me how well he distributed the ball even to less heralded teammates.
Combine very little MPG and a completely new role, and he looked lost. His 3PT% went straight to the toilet until Bill Self gave him a little more room to work out of desperation in the tournament. He is a PG, or a least a lead guard that works best as the primary ball carrier even if he has more SG skills than PG ones. Oh, and he was probably the best defender KU had in the backcourt in the tournament even if he needed a lot more time in the weight room.
Marshall's system is better for a guy like CF. Self likes very specific things from his guards, and CF didn't fit the mold. He was neither a sit-in-the-corner-and-only-shoot-3s guard (the Teahan) or a go-crazy-attacking-the-paint-and-hopefully-get-more-assists-than-TOs guard (the Taylor), and those are really the only archetypes I've seen Self use. Marshall lets his guys create a little more, is okay with the pull-up jumper if a guy is good at it (and CF is), and adapts his system to his guards strengths more.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Marshall's staff looking in on elite level centers and JUCO PGs.

Another way I look at it is... No one, including him :)The Assman
