It's not just the money they could throw at him, it's the major conference job that doesn't require rebuilding we have always feared. While Texas is "down", by its standards, it was still in the tournament, has a top 25 class coming in next year, and may just keep Miles Turner. The facilities are ridiculous and the campus has nearly 50,000 students on it. Those kinds of jobs just don't come around that often. Marshall has to know his stock is likely at its highest point, and I would think that all of us would understand if he took that gig.
Just a minor quibble with this assessment, I agree with most of it. The facilities as they are today aren't top notch. The Frank Erwin Center or "The Drum" is an aging building that a lot of the UT fans complain about. It is planned for demolition to make way for a Med school but it is still in limbo last I heard. Of course, if it does get imploded you can bet that UT will replace it with something very nice. I have no idea if something like that would give a coach pause.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

This guy thinks Barnes is gone. I guess Patterson has done this before with Herb Sendek at Arizona State, but Sendek stayed.

QUIT PANICKING! Cheese and crackers, folks... do you think he's going to make up his mind based on what a bunch of people on a message board/forum think? Do we trust coach to recruit the best players for his system? Hire the best assistants? If we trust him to do those things, trust that he'll make the best decision on this matter as well.

What else do we have to do? His best decision on this matter may not be mine! How can you expect me to leave it up to him? Look what happened when he didn't follow my advice last night!!!!

We're fortunate in that we get to hypothesize about all the different situations without any repercussions whatsoever; let us enjoy our moment.

I think the Texas job is awesome..

Pros: money, conference, tv, recruiting, AUSTIN & alums that doesn't have stupid expectations
Cons: lack of recent major success and older basketball facilities (which can be easily turned into pros, btw)

It might be the best college coaching job all things considered. Hopefully, HCGM and family love it here.

This just in: Wichita State Head Coach Gregg Marshall to consider "crazy" offer from Bradley.

I heard Doug Gottlieb is interested in the WSU job if it comes open... but he would want to bring in his own point guard..

My thoughts too or maybe another high profile coach who wants to leave and go to Texas.

                          • Actually, UK fans are hoping that your coach stays right where he is until Calipari decides to call it quits. We would love to have him as our next coach once Cal calls it a day. He is absolutely a great basketball coach!

Honestly, if I am Texas, I go after Shaka or Archie Miller.

Both are younger then Marshall and will be coaching a lot longer.

Nobody wants this job more than Buzz Williams.
