SIU is currently without an AD. Once they get one, I think Hinson will be a DOBO somewhere this time next year.
I don't know Beane might score 35 points a game next year for SIU. Although the team may only average 50.

SIU fans believe the blood letting isn't over either. Expect Bola and at least 1 other current player to transfer out. Holy yikes. Feel bad for Barry and SIU fans. A once proud program would have to have a big season next year to even become a dumpster fire. I'm not sure what you call it now.

He was impressive in the tournament this year. Look for him to have a very solid sr season next year.

Because of that lack of seniors, I believe Barry has only 1 recruit committed for next year.

Was there conflicts/problems that led to this exodus or is it simply a bunch of "quitters" (probably too harsh) not wanting to stick around and build something special? I thought Hinson had a good group to turn SIU around.

Probably lost shooting contests with Mrs. Hinson.

Could you ever imagine that the Valley would be in a position where it wished they had SIU-Edwardsville in place of SIU-Carbondale?

At this point, they aren't really even a dumpster fire. It's more like a campfire because you can't even come up with a dumpster.

Just checked Kenpom a few minutes ago and it looks like the Valley is now 8th ranked conference according to his analysis.

I assume he's not figuring in SIU with that calculation, otherwise it would be in the mid 20s I'm guessing.

Yes...SIU is there. He actually shows Bradley as our worst team. Earlier this year the MVC was ranked as low as 11th. Valley has passed West Coast, AAC & MidAmerican in last several weeks.

Thought some positive news was in order.

I know we dog the three-letter tournaments, but teams playing in those still have quasi-decent RPI-type numbers. Illinois State winning a game and Evansville and Loyola both getting to title games of their tournaments (along with WSU and UNI winning 3 NCAA games) certainly helps end-of-year numbers. I thought I heard or read something from Bruce or Paul that the Valley is 10-3 this postseason. That's a good building block for next year.

I think it's a big deal. Yeah it's not the NCAA but we have seen what post season success does for the next season. It's a major building block for these two programs (UE and Loyola). It gives me a lot of confidence about the MVC next year.
