This has been a great experience for Loyola. They need games, practice, coaching, experience, and as many wins and fan interest as they can possibly get.

Evansville needed to make the NIT. They are just padding Simmons' win record. Balentine has played 115 of 120 minutes. He played 40 minutes in a 15-point blowout. They aren't building toward anything except prolonged mediocrity under their current coach, and another undeserved 1st Team All-Valley award.

If the teams have lots of young starters, I believe it's essential to future success to do good in these tournaments. Mostly seniors, not so much. But it never hurts that's for sure.

I think the headline stating Barrah ripped the decisions is a little overstated based on what was actually in the article. At least they said he ripped the decisions and not the players. While he was obviously unhappy about the transfers I would say he didn't really ripped anything. But I guess you want to get people to look at your article.

Some suggestions on the SIU board that they may not be done with transfers yet. A couple have implied maybe having an SIU coach's son (Anthony Beane) on the team could be the source of some tension.

In any case, Sgt. Gunny Highway said it best in Heartbreak Ridge: It's a clusterf??k, Sir!

SIU had a long rebuild ahead of them in the best of cases. This is about the polar opposite of the best case scenario.

The minimum standard for a Barry-rant is did he mention his wife. Not the case here.

I just can't believe his players don't like him. I would think that would not have been an issue. Losing games is one thing but a mass exodus implies they don't even want to work with him anymore and that seems so odd to me.

The man has gotta be done, right?

I don't think SIU has replaced their athletic director yet. Mario Moccia took over as AD of New Mexico State in January. Interestingly, the interim AD is named Dr. Bardo.

Not sure what SIU will do but I suspect they will leave that decision for whoever the new AD when he is brought on board. Barry inherited a mess, but it is still a mess both, if not worse, after 3 years under Barry's watch. That has to be a big disappointment for SIU fans. Feel for Barry I was really pulling for him to do well at SIU.

I know there are a lot of SNers that like Barry and want to see him do well. I would like to see SIU do well for the sake of the Valley. However, he's not winning, he's hemorrhaging players and he's on Sports Center for the wrong reasons. I wish he had never left MSU. They would be better today. But he's not getting it done in Carbondale and he needs to leave. It's embarrassing.

@GoodmanESPN: Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson told ESPN has signed a new 10-year deal. Has done a terrific job at UNI.

                          Good for them.

The key issue from Evansville next year will be if Egidius Mockevicius will return. I guess there has been some talk that he might return home to play pro ball.
