A game at Sprint and one at Intrust should squash the $$$ argument.
They avoid us for more than just financial reasons.

I couldn't care less if they play either. I must admit that it is beyond fun razzing them and watching them squirm under the increasing pressure from Dickie V., and others. All of rhe reasons and explanations of made up financial data just prove how twisted up they get over a school they claim to not recognize. I hope it never happens. If it does, really won't have a use for any KU fan. At least now they are an eternal punching bag. Always there, just waiting to be popped.

Is this the end all be all of scheduling? Certainly not. But such exposer is certainly worth a lot more than playing in Wichita would be. Of those same 15 people on the street in Wichita, all of them know who KU is and 10 of them hate them.

You argument is a Trojan horse. There is no way that basketball fans and recruits don't know about the Wichita State and especially the KU basketball program. They are perennial Top 10 (the past few years anyway) programs, Final Four contenders, and on television many times during the year. KU has a history that is unmatched in basketball. None of the players that they have on their team right now came because they went to Philly or anywhere else (except maybe Cliff Alexander). Recruiting is much more complex than just going into the urban centers in America and playing close to recruits is much over rated.

I don't get the impression Shocker fans would want to play ku in the regular season for "validation" type reasons. I think Shocker fans just like great basketball and would simply enjoy seeing two awesome teams square off at Koch Arena (or Intrust) every once in a while. I mean there's one right up the freeway. Why NOT??? Can I get an amen!!!FINAL FOURS:

We all know the reason Self won't schedual WSU right now is the fear of losing, plain and simple. Ku fans like to think back to some of the one-sided victories of the 90's when we were coming off our 3-year probation that set us back 10yrs and some bad coaching hires. Sure they waited till Carr, Levingston, X-man, Sherrod, Ozell Jones, were gone. Just like now, it took the NCAA's to potentially get us togetheir. I don't buy the playing games in certain markets to reach the recruits, the recruits can catch ku on tv for pretty much every game, and the money, well ku isnt hurting for that. It's pretty comical when Self starts explaining the why-nots, it's such horse crap. Lets get past Indiana, and then we will have done our part to make this happen.

Nothing I can find or see indicates that KU's season ticket cost is anything other than X mandatory donation plus Y seat cost (like basically all other programs). And the Y seat costs are nice round numbers this year it looks like, as it is every year. The variable cost based on either number of home games in a given year, or based on opponent (would a variable cost even matter if it is lumped into a season ticker price?) is a claim I can find no proof of. The $2500 figure for only season tickets is also false (they went for $925 to $1600 this season), not that the minimum WEF donation plus season ticket wouldn't eclipse that for many KU season ticket holders.
They do adjust the price based on the number of home games though. The last year I bought them they added the Kansas City game to the package and specifically mentioned that as the reason for the increase from the previous year. They also print the cost of each ticket on the ticket. They pretty much have to since most years they do sell individual game tickets for most of the games (they didn't really the last two years but maybe that was the point of lowering the season ticket prices).
But hell, at $925 it might be worth doing again. That is considerably more reasonable. Of course, if you live in Wichita it is going to cost you another $4000 to get up there and back for each game but that's another issue.
Originally posted by SHOCKvalue View PostAs for your last paragraph, your also off by a very large margin with regards to the first sentence, in KU's favor.
More than two of every five teams in the NCAA tournament either didn't make a dime or lost money on their men's basketball program last year.

Here are the reasons why this particular fan wants to see the game in the regular season:
1) WSU wins, they are automatically #1 in the polls the following week. Regardless of record.
2) WSU loses the game, they jump to #2 in the polls and gain one of those coveted 'quality losses'
That's how it works right? At least that is the formula I have derived from the polls and selection committee. I guess you could probably substitute Kentucky or Duke in for KU and get the same result. Tongue in cheek....I think? But somehow it seems to be truth. So now I have a real beef with the selection committee, HOW THE HECK DID THEY LEAVE TEMPLE OUT?!??!?!?!
In all seriousness, I think I would rather WSU beat IU & KU in this year's NCAAs and then refuse the game when KU calls. "nothing to gain".-Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind-
GO SHOX!
