Fair enough. I guess I see a lot more potential in him than that. He's not as thick as Lufile but he's taller and longer. Lufile was very quick but I've never seen Bush as a stick in the mud. Bush has solid hands (laugh all you want but it's true). He seems to do the good teammate routine (first off the bench, hi fives, etc) even though he doesn't get much run. He's an acceptable free throw shooter for a guy that size. He's absolutely a work in progress but I think the tools are there for him to be a nice player off the bench next year.

I think Nurger could make the biggest leap from year one to year two. He's got all the skill he just needs the KR treatment.

If that is the decision of the coaching staff, I will trust them. However, this is not the time to take chances. They've had time to coach and evaluate to the best of their abilities. If you or they are wrong on both players, we have a big problem.

I'm usually really nice and considerate about players, or I at least see why it's good to be.

However, there is a part of me that gets a little protective and mean when I flip the perspective and think about Fred, Ron and Evan. These guys matter a lot more to me. I want those guys to get to win a title together and this year in particular I can feel myself getting a little inconsiderate in regards to everyone else. Maybe that's just me. I'd be glad to revert back to being nice to everyone after next year. This year needs to include pulling out all the stops.

Oh hell yeah. Most everything I say should have an asterisks that says "I'm just some guy, what do I know? In Marshall I trust."

He knows way more about his players than I could ever hope to.

Thanks for the information. It seems to me that there is a special provision in the NCAA rules, which permits academic scholarships, if the players' have achieved graduate status. The player sorta achieves walk on status too. I probably am dead wrong.

I am too dumb to look it up.

Your comment makes a lot of sense.

Marshall once said he doesn't recruit guys to sit the bench. If we have guys on the team that aren't pushing for playing time, they are taking up valuable roster space.

Nurger has nice potential and upside that I noticed often because I am offensive minded and love a big that can drain the 3 even as a Freshman. However, to gain playing time next Season, he must also get stronger. As we look back, Stutz just kept improving and got his legs and upper body stronger. His Junior and Senior Seasons were quite productive. Rauno will have to also become a solid rebounder and defender to prompt Coach Marshall to play him more.

With that said, it would not mystify me at all if we sign a Juco big, or two? However, do we just sign the best big we can get or rather just get a solid 5? I hope Baker is returning, but if not, it also would not shock me if tried to sign Mulder. Freeman at Hutch is a player that intrigues me too but is his game quite similar to Kelly, Brown, and incoming MM? Some of you have or will see him play. Did I hear him more compared to Carl Hall or at the D-1 level is he more similar to the players we already have or will have?

The new 3 guards we have next Season are solid enough that Baker and FVV might get a little more rest instead of 33-35 minutes quite often. These guards are young but can shoot and score. We can't expect Baker and FVV to be hot every solitary game. Thus, we have some talent coming in here at the 1-2 along with Corey who also shows promise.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Since we're "going there", I'll give my opinion.

Wamukota was the most effective defender against Tuttle. He stays.

Glass looked really good offensively for a few minutes here and there, but that was all he showed. Even that should have gotten him more minutes. He didn't get them. On an overall scale, he's closer to James Anacreon than to Cleanthony Early. Tough for a Sr to trfr unless he goes NAIA, but Glass may be in a position of demonstrating why he should return.

Hoilland and Henderson. Prior to the start of the season, Marshall said Henderson wouldn't RS because he had to be the backup at PG. That didn't work out. Holland got 0 minutes at PG, so turning him into a PG didn't happen. Holland is a 6'0" SG. Henderson is 6'3". Henderson will stay. Holland can go JuCo and not lose a year. His RS costs him a year if he transfers to an NCAA school.

Nurger looks to have a lot of upside.Same with Kelly, but Kelly didn't live up to his pre-season hype.

Baker and Wessel would have been well-advised to take some courses they wanted or some "fun" courses and plan on graduating in 5 years instead of 4. That makes things easier and more pleasant. I expect both will be back.

I've got Wessel starting at 3 all year. Brown starting at 4 early. After that, it's his to lose, and I don't think Hamilton can take it from him. Then in '16-'17 move Brown to SF and put Hamilton at PF.

An even bigger need than a big man is developing some PG's next year. We lost Bowles. Henderson isn't looking like a PG. Holland apparently made no progress at learning the position. Both the starter and the backup PG's graduate next year.

Now I'm going to grab my flame-proof kevlar-based protective gear and discuss the PG position. Successful 6' PG's tend to be either super-quick and super-slick with uncanny passing skills, or have an endless bag of tricks. FVV falls into the latter category. I do not anticipate that Frankamp will ever be the starting PG at WSU. Backup - probabluy.

The offense doesn't run as well with Baker at PG. Baker is 6'4" and has long arms. He has probably a 6" vertical passing release point advantage over Fankamp. With a lean, Baker probably has a 4" horizontal release point advantage over Frankamp.

For Fr minutes, consider this. Hamilton was considered "raw" coming out of HS. Brown was not. Both spent a year at Sunrise. Think about it. FVV was top-100 and SERIOUSLY underrated. Look at his Fr minutres. Still have questions about Fr starting or playing significant minutes?.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I would figger out ZB first. I think he can play the 3 and 4. In a pinch, I think he can play the 2. This guy is gonna explode in 15-16.

I kinda like to see Markis in shorts, before I slotted him.

I know I am going to be shouted down, but I prefer that Wessel come off the bench. He is not a scoring threat, even when he is scoring. His flat shot drives me crazy and I cannot get over my dislike for it, even when it is going in the hole. I agree that he does a lot of things well.

Agree with Aargh regarding the point guard position. Big issue. Hope we find one asap cause obviously it's gonna be damn hard to replace FVV after next season. Maybe Henderson will work out and see more playing time. Crossing fingers.

I kinda see Kelly as the guy to really improve and make a big leap in his game for next season. This year he just looks ill-confident. Has some solid skills and athleticism...but just hasn't put it together yet. A year under his belt and early season playing time bodes well for next year. Looks like he can jump out of the gym too.

Brown looks to be really friggin' good. Agile. Can shoot. Defend. Jump and all the above. Seems to be understanding more than the other new guys too.

Conner? No. Not a point guard imo but would love to be wrong.

Hamilton will probably look a lot like Kelly this year.

McDuffie - looking forward to seeing him...but get this feeling he will get pushed around quit a bit next year.

Tons of athleticism though!!!!! Should be another fantastic season!!!!

I don't think anyone would disagree that Wessel should be coming off the bench and playing 3. That would be ideal, but it requires someone else to outplay him and apparently no one on this roster is able to do that. I think that speaks more to the development of our newcomers than it does to Wessel's talent for playing out of position at the 4.

I am very much holding out hope that both Hamilton and McDuffie are just stupid good, and that Frankamp can hold it down as a 1 or a 2 in the future.
