I think Conner could be a backup PG along with Ron next year. Then the following 2 years he'll be the starting point. If not, then we'll need someone to step up.

I wonder, if Coach Marshall on a lark, takes a peek from time to time. Never mind.
probably his son does and fills him in

Our great record aside, that same schedule would have yielded even a better record and possibly a Valley tourney crown with a solid true 4 and 5. We had neither or they were out of position (Carter). The same will go for next year.

Someone has to step up to play quality 5 with Morris (and he may be more of a 4 than 5). Outside of ONE game, BWam has not shown to be more than a spot player. Nurger's age is a concern for me. He is 6 months older than Glass who will be a senior next year! I expected a more mature, skilled player this year, even as a freshman. His lack of playing in the second half compared to the 1st half of the season does not give me warm fuzzies. If a juco does materialize, he will probably be more of a 4 than a 5. I'm not going to put it all on Hamilton's shoulders as a freshman, but isn't he playing post for Sunrise?

I think Kelly has the potential to take on 20+ minutes at the 4. Problem may be, What after that? Hamilton is my first choice, but that's a lot to ask (although Kelly did play 14 mpg this year).

This season, and its problems at the 4/5, did not answer questions for next year. McDuffie's main experience in HS is at the 3. Brown is more of a 2/3 who even played a little point for Sunrise. Wessel, too, played some point in HS and is the shortest of this trio, but definitely not short on heart and grit. They can all play the 4, I'm just not sure how far this team can go if they have to play a lot of minutes there. I have to admit, a quality juco 4 who could play a little 5 seems to be ideal at this time.
McDuffie's main experience in high school is actually at the 4, though he played plenty of three and a little 2 and 5. He projects as a 3 in college. There isn't much difference in Marshall's system between the 3 and the 4 except for ball handling vs size. McDuffie has both attributes (minus the build of a 4).

Until Fred we never had a true point guard. Ragland, Hannah, Toure, down the line we oftenplayed with two combo guards and eve played at a high level in the NIT. It's better with Fred but very few teams have a Fred.

Any more city league players on the hcgm radar?
For some the glass is half full and for others half empty. My glass is out of ice.

FVV, Baker, Brown, Wessel, Shaq start. Kelly, Frankamp first off bench. Assuming Mcduffie translates easily to college game, he will be in that mix too. Dog fight for minutes down low Nurger, Wamu, Hamilton, Glass. Henderson and Shamet fight for guard minutes. Holland is gone. Frankamp backs up both of the guard spots. A lot of versatility on the roster next year. There are just not enough minutes in a game for these guys. Betting multiple transfers.

Also BushWamakota has shown in multiple games of the second half of the season that he's a capable defender, not just one game. I agree that the D came in spot minutes but the subtle signs of a player are there.
Nurger's "skills" are OK, but not enough to off set his D, gain more not less playing time through the year, and couldn't take minutes away from a project (BWam) who was very limited offensively and, respectively, generally not that good on D on most occasions. With his age, I'm just not sure about his ceiling. He may be getting close to it based on my other comments. I hope I am "off base". If one, or together, they can effectively take on 20 minutes a game, we're OK. If not, we need help.

Connor is as much a pure guess as Taylor and Shamet. We will have to wait and see what he can do. I'm not near as sure as you. Again, Baker can play the point when needed next year, but that does zero for development of 1 or 2 PGs for the future. In fact, it hurts it.

I have an appointment to go to, so look further later. What I remember his coach saying is he is just this year, learning to play with his back to the basket. He may have "played" the 4, but I bet he played it like a 3.

I tend to give big men the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their development. He's 21 not 31 so I don't think age is really a factor at this point but even if it is the guy has a baby face that says late bloomer to me.

Zarko Dsursic - 2015 edition. That is not a bad thing, but it will take a couple more years to REALLY pay off..

Ragland and Hannah may have combos in juco, but they wete true point guards at WSU... as was Armstead.

He may be a guess on point guard skills, but I'll tell you one thing he does and does well - puts the biscuit in the basket. We like makers.
