I can personally attest that my real name is NOT Mike Kennedy, though I hope to achieve in my field of work half as much as Mr. Kennedy has in his....

No wonder KW is Marshall's favorite ShockerNetter.

Without KW, where would Marshall be right now? Not at Winthrop, obviously, but it's hard to imagine that his last eight years would have been as fruitful as they have been, despite the disastrous start he endured.

Good heavens, ST -- don't insult Kennedy that way. I've known him for years, and there's no way those two could inhabit the same personality.

Also, for the record, I am NOT Gregg Marshall. And I'm glad to know that as long as I don't hit on Lynn, I'll like him if I meet him, because:

          (a) I hold him in very high regard as a coach and a representative of my favorite basketball program, and am thus predisposed to like him; and
          (b) Apart from what he'd do if I hit on Lynn, my wife would dump me -- don't need that.

          • Quick 3G story. My cousin and his two sons made the trip from the Dallas area to KC for the CBE classic last year. After the championship game we met in the team hotel lobby and waited for the team. The two boys were awed by the Shocker players and like normal teenagers were hanging out in the corner. I had met Gregg previously and knowing how approachable he is, encouraged the boys to go meet him. Now we are not super boosters with big bucks, but Gregg treated us like we were. He took the time to learn everyone's name, age of the boys, where they lived and who their favorite Shockers were. He also asked them to go check out new signee CH Jr and report back to him. In all, he spent 15-20 minutes with these young men and I guarantee you they will remember that encounter long after they forget who we played or what the final score was. Thanks Gregg and Go Shocks!

Yip. Seemed to be in pretty good mood. Only thing interesting was he was Asked about drake comment that ISUR is better at 1-12 than WSU at about 40:59

                  • I listened and that Drake ISU Red comment was classic. Coach seemed in a really good mood and the calls weren't nearly as critical in nature. Maybe that helped....
"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden

                    • I still can't believe that callers actually call in to give Marshall "advice". He's the freaking national coach of the year, there's nothing that any fan can tell him that he doesn't already know or hasn't considered. Imagine having to deal with that at your job, where you may be an expert in your field, and you have to sit there and take "suggestions" from lay people. I don't think I could do it.

I get how that could be annoying. But what if those lay people are fanatically interested enough in what you do that they plan half their year and a substantial amount of their own income around supporting it? It comes with the territory.

You should try being an aerospace engineer. Hell, they don't even have to be lay people. Its actually worse when it's other engineers who don't have any of the background or history for what you are working on.

You and i should hang out. I think we would get along pretty well. :-)
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Haha I'm no rocket scientist but I do a pretty odd job and I can definitely vouch that the key to happiness at work is to do a job that no one else knows anything about.
