  • Should Shocker fans buy tickets for the Omaha regional just in case? Last year I bought tickets for the STL regional ahead of time and it worked out well.

Might as well because you won't have any problem unloading them but it's doubtful we end up in Omaha this year.

Yeah, your downside is probably limited since the other teams we're competing with for that venue all travel well. I'd just try my best to avoid stubhub/primesport/vividseats so that you don't get walloped for ~25% over the net amount for each transaction.

We definitely need to run the table to even have a chance at Omaha though.

Because a 4-seed isn't high enough to get geographic preference? Or other factors?

Top 4 seeds are protected, but that only means they won't be placed at a geographic disadvantage for their Round of 64 game. Usually they get treated favorably w/r/t location but there is no guarantee.

In this case, no more than 2 protected seeds will be sent to Omaha (one for each pod). There are a whole host of others with similar proximity (Kansas, Wisconsin, Iowa State, and so on) who we are duking it out with for those two spots.

We could end up as high as a 2 seed and still be behind two others in the pecking order for the Omaha regional. Sucks when the Committee clumps the sites so much in certain regions like they did this year. Having just one more semi-close location like Denver, Dallas, Little Rock, etc. would have created such better balance.

Considering Lunardi's current group of #4 seeds includes WSU, UNI, Iowa State, and OU, it seems any of those teams could easily end up in Kentucky's region as all are relatively close geographically. It will be an interesting race to the finish to see which teams can finish well and possibly jump into the #3 seed. Even if WSU went to a different region than Kentucky, I'd much rather see WSU as a #3 seed and avoid the likes of Duke, Virginia, and Gonzaga (the other likely #1s) for a bit longer.

                One last thing...

Sorry Mr. Therapy, I just couldn't resist.
                Blog link?

There's no way a sane person would care or still remember a random person's posts from months ago.

                • Futher proving that he's a hack, Jerry Palm drops us to an 8 seed. The teams that he has ahead of us that shouldn't be are too numerous to list, but you can see for yourself here:

                  • Jerry Palm is HORRIBLE at bracketology. He regularly finishes way below the average blogger who just does it for fun.

Just for reference, over at the http://bracketmatrix.com/, WSU is currently a 5 seed. There are something like 100 people's predictions being tracked. I see ONE 8 seed out of the whole group!

                      Old Jerry face Palm.

Oh well, just keep winning. Luckily guys like him have nothing to do with the actual bracket process.

IMO Palm is worse than Lunardi at projecting likely NCAA Tournament Brackets, so I do not give his latest effort any credibility.

Regards the seeding for the Shockers in this year's tournament, too many teams will have superior records for the Shockers to be seeded higher than #3, even if the Shockers win out. Barring a major meltdown by one of the following teams, I think the seeds will be:
1 - Kentucky, as they are very likely to be undefeated and ranked #1 in both polls
                        1 - Gonzaga
                        1 - Virginia
1 - Duke, as they beat Wisconsin in Madison early in the season

                        2 - Wisconsin
                        2 - Villanova
                        2 - Arizona
2 - Kansas, due to historical bias and an 11th consecutive Big 12 Title

Leaving the Shockers to compete with the likes of Louisville, UNC and Utah for the #3 seed

                        • Louisville is VASTLY overrated... They will be exposed very early in the tournament, but hitting a very soft part of their ACC schedule now

So is North Carolina. And Notre Dame, while being really good, had such a horrible noncon schedule that I would be genuinely surprised if the comittee gives them the 3 seed that all the bracketologists think that they deserve.

IMO you are correct but history informs that Conference Membership and the name on Jersey helps in the seeding process of the NCAA Tournament. So teams like Kansas, Louisville, UNC and Notre Dame will capture seeds that they do not IMO deserve.

Not sure if Louisville will get said treatment... Many felt they were under-seeded last year
