Some thought just because he is a coaches kid, he will develop quicker and have a higher ceiling. Some do, some don't. Having said that, I believe he will be a high level contributor at PG. He is hesitant and unsure right now. This will pass. That won't be the case next year.

      Reserve players turnovers - 7

      Fouls:
      Kelly - 4
      Holland - 4
      Morris - 3
Any sort of analysis of this game is wasted time. SLU doesn't belong in the same building as WSU. WSU's starters buried SLU deep and the reserves were left to mop the floor. It just isn't worth the effort.

      • Yes, I'm too lazy to dig into the interwebs for an answer to this, but what in the hades happened to SLU between 13-14 and this year? Did aliens abduct all human components of their program and reinsert extraterrestrial zombies in their place? They went from top 15-20 to the newest location for a Loyola campus.

        • What's with the friggin' prostate exam they give everyone before entering the building. Is this really necessary????? It isn't done at Koch.

The City/County needs to revisit their security policy. Why not set-up the walk through metal detectors like USD259 uses? My god, is the shuffling granny with a walker and a cane packing heat? Or the 5 year old with the little doll??? The line I was in the stupid "security" bee-atch was taking 20-30 seconds per scan. It is complete overkill.

I waited in that goddam line for 25 minutes. And let me tell you, I didn't make me feel one bit safer. I went to the game in Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Friday night, which seats an equivalent number of fans to IBA. We walked right in and noone, I mean noone, got shot during the game.

SLU graduated 4 starters and 5 players total from last year.

I'm with you on this one. They didn't even start with enough security people. They realized this too late and started adding security lines. People were still trying to get in when the game started. This is year #5. They should be doing better. If this is not corrected by the NCAA arrival, then Wichita will be an embarrassment and never get to be a host again.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

This, and they also went from Rick Majerus to Jim Crews during the 2012-2013 season, and I think we're starting to see how that affects recruiting.

                • It should come as zero shock to anyone who follows along that anything promoted, developed, managed, owned, etc by the City of Wichita or Sedgwick County will turn into a Charlie Foxtrot. They get no pass in that a 3rd party was hired to take care of IBA day-to-day; SG Co is ultimately the owner/client.

If I would have known ahead of time the manner in which the "downtown arena" would come into reality, I would have never, ever voted for it. The way that half-arse arena and the way Waterwalk was handled has turned me into someone who would vote for ANYTHING to help DT Wichita, into a so-called CAVE-er. I'm envious of the comparable towns in this region (Tulsa, Des Moines, and yes, sadly Omaha) that have leadership not composed exclusively of mental midgets.

Now that is smash-mouth Shocker basketball. In the meanwhile we had 20 assists of our own led by Mr. Cotton with 7. Now that kewl stat jumped off that stat sheet and grabbed me of his continued importance here in the land of Cotton.

Holland played 18 minutes and buzzes on the defensive side of the hardwood like a june bug in December searching for a foe to pester. We had 15 turnovers but part of that is the need to lengthen our bench. Now there was one team stat that showed needed improvement. 15-21 on our throws for an improved .714 percent. However, I want us to also get to the line than our opponents which did not happen last night. The Lew shot 25 throws.

This was a great game to watch and we improved as a team after the loss. Some teams might have went into a funk after a loss but not our beloved Shockers. Right now, I could see us going 10 deep versus Seton Hall, even if it is a close game. As our defense improves and our bench becomes very solid and reliable, then we have a great shot at having another glittering Season of success.
Haven't researched, but 71.4 sounds like one our better performances at FT line this year. ,May not be up to par with past years, but it seemed to me to a positive more than a negative.

When his offense catches up with his rebounding, watch out. He has X-like qualities on the boards. I see glimpses of his wanting to be aggressive with the ball.
Look for a breakout during his sophomore year.

70-75% makes me happy on throws. Depending on who is shooting them on a given night, we will shoot even better than that. 3G is not worried so neither am I so early in our Season. Also, let me repeat that we much prefer to get more throws than our opponents too because we will face teams that will make their fair share of them on a given night. St. Lew did receive more attempts last night than we did.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I don't think the graduations are as relevant as what they returned. Somehow SLU completely forgot to recruit for two years, as far as I can tell, and they didn't bother to even things out with JUCO players.

They have three upperclassmen, and one of them is by far the worst player on their team.

You're going to lose seniors and starters every year -- it's college basketball. But not having classes behind them ready to move up is inexcusable. You can lose five starters and be fine if you've recruited and developed players to have a new line of quality players after them. That's why you stagger classes if you're not a program like Indiana State that's hoping to ride a single over-loaded class to success while not caring about the years around it.
