They do have a 57-50 win over #1 Temple. Although, winning a neutral court game over Temple is not as valuable as obtaining a quality loss against Temple.

Two things crossed my mind watching the 2nd half of the KU / Temple game - 1) KU's press must really be bad. I think they tried it a couple times when they were still down just in the teens and the Temple guys broke it easily. After that they just seemed to give up pressing and the lead jumped to 30. 2) when the students stormed the court, I thought the KU football fans who stormed the field after their lone Big 12 home win felt relieved since they justify their actions are valid because people storm the court after they beat KU in basketball :)

While the university presidents have final say by voting on conference affiliation, you cannot dismiss the role of the conference commissioner. The commissioner is a very big influencer of the final decision of the voting presidents. The commissioner recommends potential candidates, is very active in the selection process, and makes a recommendation to the university presidents. It has been widely reported in the past that Elgin was very influential in the decision to admit UNI to the conference, and he has been given credit for making that recommendation. In the end whether Loyola was a good choice or not rests upon Elgin, because it was his recommendation to the presidents.
