Redbirds just lost by 1 to Old Dominion (49-50) because they couldnt hit any threes (23%) and couldn't hit any free throws (43%... Yes, forty three percent). That sure wasn't the case when they took us out. Of course, in hindsight I am very happy with the events that have transpired ever since.
Oh, and Loyola and Evansville won.

Tulsa is getting boatraced 59-35 by Murray State with 13 minutes remaining in their NIT game. And that game is in Tulsa.

The Illinois State game at Old Dominion must have been pretty fugly. Not a lot of turnovers but both team shot the ball poorly.
Illinois State was 19-49 (38.8%) including 4-17 (23.5%) on treys and 7-16 (43.8%) from the line.
Old Dominion was 20-55 (34.6%) including 5-17 (29.4%) on treys and 5-11 (45.5%) from the line.
Maybe both teams were just outstanding on defense, especially the free throw defense.

I couldn't figure out why Loyola would have three straight games next week against UL Monroe, and then I remembered that their tournament has a three game series for the title.
Loyola will play to win the CBI this week.
Evansville is in the semifinals of the CIT. 2 more wins from either team will do it and when you look at the names involved, I'd say the Valley will be winning these games. Evansville faces Tennessee Martin and then either Northern Arizona, NJIT or Canisius.Last edited by Dave Stalwart; March 28, 2015, 12:41 PM.
