1972: Maybe we should cancel basketball, wait seven years, hire an outstanding assistant coach from Oklahoma, restart basketball and play in the national championship game five years later. What do you think?

The more likely outcome would be that we cancel basketball, start a blue-ribbon commitee to discuss bringing it back, but decide it would cost too much money and take away from all the success that our Softball, Tennis and Bowling teams are having.

The team has stopped believing in themselves. When they take a nice lead they seem to know only one thing and that is, somethings going to happen and we're not going to win." I believe the more they allow this to happen the less they believe in themselves. Your right, each and every player has to deal with their mental attitude on their own. It's like they hit the panic button, when a team makes a run and the game goes South from there on. It becomes a collective thing then because this defeated attitude spreads. What you believe in your mind has alot of influence over your behavior. :( :( :(

There is nothing mentally wrong with this team. They lose leads because they lack talent. It's not like coach can go out there and make those shots for them. We need to dump our current crop of talentless souls and get some good stuff like they have over at Drake!!111elevenshifty

Maybe if we demolish Koch arena and dispose of all basketball equipment and paraphernalia so as to really do it right.

They have to have some talent to take the lead in the first place. I think everyone will agree that they lack talent but they're not completely untalented or they wouldn't be in most games at all. I still believe that your mindset has alot to do with being a winner.

As I said in a previous thread--I didn't hear or see most of the 2nd half. My wife however did and she commented that it seems they just don't believe they can pull it out, when obviously they have the tools to do it.

Sounds like it's gotten to their heads a bit. All that effort only to be undermined by their own negative thoughts?
