Marshall to Stay at Wichita State

if you look at what Marshall is making and what he can make in bonuses he is making top 25 money ($1,800,000) and has the ability with performance to be in the top 10 in the country (~$2,600,000). If he leaves Wichita it will be because of pride and ego, not because money.

Important note: pride and ego that he has earned through continued incredible performance... Not the annoying kind of pride and ego that just reflects a personality flaw.

Most people are driven by "pride" and "ego", sometimes that leads to incredible performances, sometime not. Sometimes it leads to short sighted decisions or actions. If you pride and ego are not kept in check it will lead you to destruction. As long as Marshall remains humble, and makes humble decisions then he will prosper, but if he starts letting pride make decisions for him, then will come disgrace.

I'm sure if Marshall was serious about potentially leaving he would approach Sexton and see if WSU would be willing to break the clause and match an offer.

How does she know what Missouri is paying Anderson? Every articles I read said they could get Anderson substantially UNDER what they were paying Haith which was, I believe, $1.75M, but nowhere after the hire have I seen a dollar figure. I must have missed it. The last article I saw said the provisions of the contract had not been made public yet.

Who offered Marshall $1 mill. more? I never saw that reported anywhere. Can you provide the source on this?

I have always got the impression that Marshall has liked to be wooed by other schools. He likes to hear how much he is wanted and that is fine. The different thing this time is that in past years, he has always built up how great his job at Wichita State is (money wise, etc. benefits like jets, etc.). That he left this out, I'm not jumping to conclusions because he may feel that he has mentioned this enough in the past so while this is different this time, it may not mean anything.

That article definitely has a bit of a defensive and pissy vibe to it. I haven't looked at twitter but I'm guessing she was getting a lot of hate to cause her to respond like this. Jenn has done some great stuff on WSU the past couple of years and she is the go-to TV reporter on WSU and I'm happy we have her. But she definitely needs to take a couple days and hold back before she writes an article like that.

This board is no different than any other board. A number of reasonably minded people overshadowed by a number of inflammatory idiots. I came on here yesterday to get a feel for whether the people on this board were worried about your coach leaving for MU. It wasn't just that you weren't worried (turns out no need for worry. Marshall is still at WSU), it was that many refused to believe that he had met or ever would meet with officials from MU about the job. Marshall and MU didn't reach an agreement. That's fine. Good luck and best wishes to WSU. But all of you people who went on and on about how the Marshall to MU rumor was created out of thin air and pure Missouri fantasy were dead wrong. The rumor wasn't created out of thin air and Missouri fantasy. It was created out of a now publicly acknowledged meeting between Marshall and Alden where the two discussed whether they could reach an agreement to bring your coach to MU. That's a fact. Any of you who denied this turned out to be dead wrong. Now, peace out. I've got to go back to my own board and read all of that drivel...which is not so different than some of the bellyaching drivel I read here.

Coach just wanted to enjoy a free dinner. Maybe he got himself a nice juicy KC Strip up in Columbia. Or maybe he just had some pizza. Hell...maybe he didn't get a chance to eat at all. Maybe he just wanted to use his private jet again. I dunno...the only thing I do know is that Coach Marshall has got it going at Wichita St. with some really, really good college basketball players. At the end of the day...Coach Marshall is a winner. That's why he's at Wichita St.
