Marshall to Mizzou?

As far as the recruiting goes that is awesome you guys got him signed. But remember most schools release recruits in that situation if their coach leaves.

ok name me the last time a recruit signed, then the very next day the head coach goes off and get hired by a different school. Yes schools release recruits all the time but it is usually recruits that signed in the early signing period.

You are in a no-win situation in message board etiquette, you come to a board with the "shame on you" strategy. You take the high road, praise the offending fan's school about how much you like them, but then scold them for not liking or criticizing your school and/or fans. This is a losing strategy, trust me, I have attempted to save my school and HCGM honor at phog.net. Most on this board have been much more reasonable and we do have every right to have an opinion on our coach being courted, especially coming from SEC schools that come off that it is a foregone conclusion that HCGM should be sprinting to take the job. Face it, the difference in the BCS conference basketball programs and the Mid-Major programs are getting smaller and smaller in terms of success and pay, so the attitude from those fans from the larger conference, which have been humbled lately, towards the Mid Major schools have been very deeming through the years. So, while you may be offended, please put yourself in our shoes and understand what we have had to put up with.

I checked Tigerboard this morning and actually Marshall's name isn't coming up much right now. If you read through some of their posts you can sense their frustration with the "no news" policy of their AD. Try to put yourself in their place (and we may or may not have to deal with that sometime in the next few years) and think how you might react. We all hope we would be classy and take the high road and not trash another school's facilities, conference, fans, etc. and decide just because we are in a bigger conference and think we might be able to offer a few dollars more that we should automatically, hands down win the coaching race and any coach would be crazy stupid to not want to come to our university. The Mizzou board is tired of waiting with absolutely no credible news and you can't blame them. After all they thought this should be a no brainer for ANY coach contacted and that some coaches would be on the phone immediately to express interest and they would have an A list hire in no time. I think they have finally moved on from Marshall as I didn't see any mention of his name when I was reading the most recent posts on their board this morning. Now the fact that one of their "fans" (and this is directed to everytrueson) took it upon himself to come to OUR BOARD and start this stupid thread just shouts out that he has an ego as big as the state of Missouri and even other Mizzou fans don't care much for him -- sad. Hopefully all this will go away soon and we can get back to more important things like being board out of our skulls for the next six months.

We assume that Missouri needs some basketball players. Otherwise, why would Haith leave? If Marshall were to take the Missouri job, then he would need some basketball players for his team. Glass is a basketball player that Marshall wants on his team.

If Marshall were to take the Missouri job, it is only logical that he would wait to sign Glass until AFTER he took the Missouri job. That would eliminate the messy release and coach stealing recruits stuff. And it would be so incredibly easy.

While Marshall has never come out and said, "I will not take the Missouri job", sometimes actions do speak louder than words. It just occurred to me that Marshall also never said, "I will not take the Tulsa job".

Actually it is unlikely that Coach Marshall would play those games. IIRC, when he came to Wichita State our cupboard was pretty bare. However, Coach Marshall declined to try to bring any of the kids he had recruited or was trying to recruit to Winthrop with him to Wichita State. I believe his comments were that those players were recruited on Winthrop's dime and he did not feel it would the right thing to do to try to bring any of them to Wichita. Coach Marshall seems to have a very stable and strongly held core belief system so I doubt that would be any different if he ever does decide to leave Wichita State.

You really want to try to compare Martin at UT to Marshall at WSU? Two opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to relationship between the coach and program administration and between the coach and fan base.

Marshall has a top 10 team coming back with the majority of his core players coming back as well. Martin at UT was losing 4 starters and didnt get along with the fanbase. so nice try. Next?

That recruit didn't sign a LOI, he verbally committed. BIG difference in this situation.

He's a JC kid that was a top 150 out of HS. I'm sure no one else wanted him.
