They are by and large a decent group of fans. They are definitely riding high because of their recent success in basketball. They regularly make fun of Missouri State too, but I don't take them too serious. The WSU fans I have met in person have been great, great folks.

WSU - a school that athletically eclipses MU in a number of historical contexts - makes about as much sense as wiping one's rear before making a download.

This thread would not even exist if not for its creation by our latest troll - you. Maybe you didn't notice, but we had some limited discussion going on in reference to this topic in another thread, that is until you came here to poke the bear. And now you're upset that you are getting mauled.

Mizzou Alum here. I just need to say, I'm really disappointed with all the trashing of MU on this forum. We're no where near rivals, yet, because many of our fans are hoping (can you blame us?) to entice your coach to lead our program, our name, our AD and our school has been drug though the mud on this forum during the last week. FWIW, during the last few tourneys, all of my fellow Mizzou friends and alums were pulling for your program. And while, I don't think many of us think we have a chance in hell to get Marshall you can't fault us for hoping, can you? Maybe instead of mocking us for this desire, you could take it as a compliment and display some class.

Also, you all seem smart enough to know what a cesspool TigerBoard is. No MU fan with any self-respect goes there. Rather, check out RockMNation.com for some level-headed, and mostly positive discussions of Mizzou Athletics.

A Mizzou fan came here with the attitude that money was the only factor in a coaching decision. That led to WSU fans taking the other side of the discussion - that there are factors other than money that affect these decisions.

Some fans of BCS schools enjoy going to message boards devoted to us lowly mid majors and spread the attitude that their school, athletic programs, coeds, facilities, and everything else are automatically superior to ours because of the conference affiliation of their school. This is not well-received by us lowly mid major fans.

WSU fans felt obligated to educate the misguided Mizzou fan of some of the situations Marshall enjoys at WSU that he might not have were he to take the position at Missouri. Discussions such as those on athletic fan message boards tend to end up in the mud, although this conversation has remained remarkably civil.

Why would we take it as a compliment that Missouri fns want our coach? We already know that about every athletic director in the nation wants our coach. F4's, Coach of the Year honors, and undefeated seasons do that.

The only way it could be a compliment was if Missouri was the superior basketball program and WSU, by comparison, was the inferior program. Then we would feel complimented that "us little guys" had something that "you big guys" wanted. WSU fans tend to feel that the relationship doesn't run that way in basketball. Right now, WSU is the superior program. I believe most of the national media would agree with the WSU assessment of the relationship between Missouri and WSU basketball. You've got us beat in football.

As far as the recruiting goes that is awesome you guys got him signed. But remember most schools release recruits in that situation if their coach leaves.

Seriously dude what more do you need to give up on this "Marshall to MU" charade? If you're waiting for him to come out and officially decline his interest in a job, you're going to be waiting a while because it has never happened before. It is not his PR MO.

While I completely agree, don't you think if Marshall was in serious talks with another school he wouldn't push so hard to get the kid signed until he changed schools?
