2013-2014 Average RPI of Current Valley Members on WSU's schedule: 173 (19-21 gms)
2013-2014 Average RPI of Former Valley Members on WSU's schedule: 89 (5 gms)
So, yes, I think WSU should be more in charge of who makes up the Valley than the Valley office or other teams currently in the league. WSU is literally twice as good at it.

Looking at the 2013-2014 RPIs, I project things to mostly of even out.
Trending Up: NMSU(77), Utah(83), Seton Hall(136), Nebraska(53)
Trending Down: Saint Louis(24), Memphis(30), Colorado(42), GW(36)
Stagnant (no reasonable case to expect major shifts up or down): Tulsa(79), Detroit(234), Alabama(128), Ohio(85), LMU(185), Hawaii(161), DePaul(157)
If we assume those things to be equal(ish) AND include all the teams in the DH Classic (hopefully we'll play 2 of the better teams), we still come out with an average opponent RPI 20 spots higher than last year.
That is a lot of IFs, but I think they did a great job of getting an overall very solid non-con schedule. There just don't project to be very many boat-anchors. If you add in what we think will be a much-improved Valley, the schedule is looking pretty good all the way around for this year.
Now, if only I didn't have to wait 3 months to get started watching them.
