Jamar, if the logic of the majority of people here are substandard to your own, then why do you come down from your tower to speak with such ignoramuses? And to take it a step further, of those ignoramuses, you dislike a few of them, yet continually call them out for discussion? I can't tell if you're a sadist or a masochist. Many of you say I over-complicate things, but this thread might have become the single biggest over-complication, staring with a simple comment of mine and getting blown up like crazy from there, that I have ever seen. Absolutely hilarious.

My point is that Doc called me an ass for posting this:

The fan in me wants to see more high quality opponents, and last year was fairly weak in that area. I fear the suppossed improvements to next year's schedule still might not remedy this specific area.

I enjoy top notch competition more than lesser competition.

We all agree, yet Doc called me an ass for saying it outloud, Fever continued as only Fever can, and other posters tried to start arguing with me about irrelevant side issues. This is why I say that this thread has become a hilarious over-complication of a simple comment I made. Some of you seem to dislike me so much that you try to argue with me even when we agree on an issue.

I don't have a solution for a better schedule. I never claimed I had a solution. I simply referenced a reality (Shox don't get many top notch opponents) that I wish were different and got jumped on by Doc, Fever, and others for mentioning it.

Because breaking it down to non-conf is counterproductive to the discussion I'm trying to have. I'm discussing the schedule as a whole. The MVC games are a big piece of the whole. Thus, the MVC games should be part of the discussion.

Then this discussion is irrelevant and is just a circle jerk for you to lord your team superiority over WSU. Of course WSU fans would love to play KU, K-State, etc over a Depaul or Chicago State -- but they refuse to play WSU. So why worry about what you can't control - all WSU can do is schedule the best they can do and win everything.

You know the bottom line is this all is entertainment, in the big scheme of things college basketball has no eternal value - so my question is why do you feel you need to be injecting your view of reality?

What exactly did I inject here? I made a bland comment about wishing for better opponents... one I think we could all relate to. The entire rest of the discussion has centered on me being called an ass and other posters trying to start an argument with me where we don't even have one.

I make honest attempts at reasonable conversations. When people respond in kind, I often hit the like button on their posts and appreciate the conversation, even if they disagreed with me. When people respond like idiots, I find entertainment value in letting them put on a show. It is really a win/win for me.

Whether you meant it this way or not (I can't entirely judge) here is how the sequence played out:

1. You make critical remarks about the schedule (with the unstated implication that there is something WSU could be doing better about it).
2. Other posters make reasonable criticism of the implication that WSU has the power to improve the schedule substantially.
3. After a long period of time, you finally claim that you never meant the implication and act as the innocent victim to the attacks of others.

If you didn't mean the implication, two things are true:
1. The original statement would be much more inane than if you did mean the implication.
2. You should have caveated in your original post that you didn't mean the implication, since it was a pretty obvious one.

If you did mean the implication, you are now being disingenuous to act like that wasn't your position and to act like the victim.

If you just did what you claim to do (i.e. defend the unpopular positions on the board) I'd be right behind you. I think it is a worthwhile task. But you keep doing stuff like this that makes is clear that picking fights and playing the victim are more important than that stated role. I agree with you that you have become an easy target to disagree with just because it is you (and I don't agree with those who take that approach), but you are currently an active part in perpetuating that dynamic.

After a long period of time? The following was in my very first post after Doc called me an ass. No poster prior to Doc had said anything about WSU doing "the best they could" and criticizing me for blaming WSU for failing in some way.

I didn’t accuse WSU of anything. I didn’t criticize anyone for failing to deliver. I acknowledged that WSU can get great seeding in the NCAA Tournament despite the scheduling woes. I am simply a fan who wishes that my favorite basketball team got to play other quality basketball teams on a regular basis. I’m saying out loud what almost everyone on this board is already thinking.

Fair enough, that quote came earlier than I had remembered. Nonetheless, the idea that you could leave that implication hanging out there and are entirely innocent when someone criticizes that implication is still disingenuous and the original discussion all the more inane for not having any application to how the schedule could be improved.

I'll weigh in on the earlier section of this thread as well which I wasn't around for when it was posted. I think that you had a fair critique of WuDrWu's "joke" about the schedule. That post served only an inflammatory purpose and a "clarification" post later doesn't change that fact. Your subsequent discussion did largely the same thing. Between the two, this thread has been useless for any actual discussion of next year's schedule.

You are somewhat right. Many posters didn't want to have a "discussion" with me about WSU's schedule. You know... what this thread is supposed to be about. They preferred rabbit trails and name calling instead, so here we are.
