Apparently not just ANY blue blood -- Marshall is selective even about blue bloods. He isn't looking to go anywhere, certainly not nasty chaos like Tennessee.

Agree. Crean has underperformed at IU, and a lot of IU fans wanted him gone after this season. After losing eight players from this years team, it's hard to believe next year will be any better than this one.

With IU's basketball history, no football (wink, wink, nod, nod) Plus the ability to throw a base of $3m a year at a basketball coach; that type of coaching job doesn't come along everyday.

      • Does anyone think that Alford would not be the next coach at IU? They still love the guy.

Sorry this has nothing to do with your post, but I am completely in awe that you joined Shockernet in 2005 and have a total of 21 posts.

I always forget about Alford. But you're correct, the fans still love him. Of course, Alford played for Bobby Knight. So I guess the real question is; has enough time passed for Alford to have a shot with the IU administration?

.@GoodmanESPN i have been told by a very good source that Marshall would only leave for a “Blue Blood"
We were all recently told that Gottlieb and ******* only report when they have good sources (I won't say whom but you know who you are). What I heard was that Gregg personally called up Gottlieb and thanked him for his good reporting this year and told him that he would only leave for a "Blue Blood". Then he congratulated him for being mentioned for the Tulsa job and was looking forward to possibly competing against him next year at CKA. This sounds like fun to me too.

I know you are referring to me. Also, that is not what I said.

                  Have a nice day.

Maybe more posters should take a page from his book. Read more, post less (or at least only post when you have something to say rather than just for the sake of posting and running up your post totals).

P.S. Not specifically directed to you DJ. You just happened to be the one to bring it up.

Tim Miles, Shaka Smart, and Gregg Marshall all appear OUT of the Tennessee picture. This is what happens when u screw over a current coach.

While I agree for the most part, I do think there is something to be said for having an active board. I probably make more useless posts than useful ones, but I consider the board more of a giant casual conversation rather than a professional information source.

By limiting his comment to "screw over a current coach", I'd say he's taking it easy on them, wouldn't you say? Even then, out of those three, I see Tim Miles as the only real possibility. Even then, he's in a surprisingly good position at the moment, with tons of people coming back from last year too. Don't see too much of a reason why he would want to leave that right now.

Once again, not directed at you. Those that make this their personal b*tch board are the ones I am talking about. How many times I wanted to just say "take it to PM" so the rest of us don't have to be involved.

Tennessee has Minnesota coach Richard Pitino on its short list of top candidates, multiple sources told ESPN.

Tennessee also looking at Southern Miss coach Donnie Tyndall, sources told ESPN. No leader has emerged yet.
Wow. Pitino spends what, 1 year at FIU before getting the Minny job, now is getting eyed again? I know his last name, and now an NIT title, work pretty big in his favor, but that'd be a surprise. Not to mention how Minnesota would kind of get screwed and all...

                              • It's hard to believe that any successful coach who has a good situation right now (e.g., Smart, or Marshall even more so) would seriously give Tennessee so much as a second look. Little Pitino, on the other hand, has a magic name that might give him a honeymoon with the Rocky Top lunatic fringe.
