I don't think people are overlooking UK on here anymore than you seem to be overlooking the fact that you have a game against K-State before you can put any focus on the Shockers. I dislike KSU more than the majority of WSU fans on here, but if we get UK cats fans on here trying to start sh*t with a Louisville fan who was stating his opinion and has periodically posted since we played them last year, then I'll just have to start rooting for the purple wildcats on Friday. Thanks for the good luck wishes and same to you in your first game

    • Actually, if you want to get technical, I think there were plenty of teams that were "mid-majors" cutting down the nets in the '80's and '90's... I would have to look to see about the 2000's...

Going back to 1980, all titles were won by traditional power conference teams. WS can be the first.

For the other post, I do apologize for the rebuttal of the Card fan, but it was more than opinion they were stating with the use of the word 'idiot' when talking about our fans that triggered the reply. And to say our coach was beneath theirs is bit off considering UL has only won once in 7 tries against UK since he's been there.

UK can NOT look past any one including K State.

I understand my presence here is not totally welcome, but I will continue to support WS outside of UK. Best of luck.

        • Wrong.... UNLV was not, Houston was not, and Louisville, in the Metro, was not....

In those days, they were not considered mid majors.

            • Yeah, the Metro was a powerhouse with schools such as VCU.... Even Louisville fans say it was not a power conference

The conference rival battles of Memphis and UL were epic. The metro was considered a solid conference in the day, but true, not a top tiered conference.

                • WSU vs TN - WSU +5 rebounding

TN vs UK - TN +15 on the boards.

As big as UK's front line is ( and they are big ) Stokes and Maymon tore them up on the offensive glass and on the glass in general. I thought WSU's post men dominated TN's for most of the game earlier this year. So if you want to say that WSU hasn't faced a front line as physical as UK's then you'd be wrong.

I also don't think people realize that, even in a down year for the Valley, there are still some big, physical MF'ers in this league that certainly gave WSU their best shot and most physical game of the season.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Experience trumps size unless your center is 6'5. UK starts 18 and 19 year olds that have not learned the fundamentals that you see in WS. For instance blocking out the weak side, here's looking at you Arkansas. Your coach has done an uncanny job of getting the whole WS roster to buy in and play as a complete unit. If UK were to do the same, then you would have size and talent and whole new level of play. And I said "if". WS will crash the boards with all five on the court and make up for the size differential. But one thing to watch out for is that UK either leads the nation or is one the top teams for 2nd chance points an this is due to our front-court size.

The major concern with WS is if the Shockers fall behind. UL nor Duke is a team you can fall behind double digits on late in the game and make run on. WS just needs to stay consistent with their shooting and keep the games close.

                    • One thing to consider as well is that WCS and Johnson are foul prone, which can take them out of the game very quickly...

Thanks for the support. I'm not saying your presence isn't welcome, cause I love meeting fans of other teams, but it's the UL-UK rivalry crap that no one here wants to listen to and using the term "mid-major" isn't gonna win many friends either.

But anyways, I don't watch much of the SEC so I don't have a deep knowledge of UK; would you consider any of the wildcat players as a defensive stopper or who do you think matches up best on a player like Earlyffrom WSU? Also, which (if any) of the freshmen hyped as one and done do you think might stay for a sophomore season?

                        • Cauley-Stein is a shot blocker and rebounder, nothing much on the offensive side except for alley-oops... Randle is a beast on the boards and offensive end, but he loves to spin to his left, so that needs to be taken away.
On the offensive end, they have been stagnant at times, but they recently switched their offense so that now Randle sets picks for Cauley-Stein so that Randle can get one-on-one match ups on the weak side of the defense...
Young is an ok shooter, but he is very streaky...
The twins... Turnover prone, and below average from outside IMO

He did add that it is very even this year and a lot of teams could win it. He also said that WSU has the toughest path to the final 4 of any number 1 seed that he has ever seen. He gives WSU a 14% chance of making the final 4 and a 5% chance of winning it all.
Nate is historically really good. So I don't like 14%. That's essentially 1/8th, in a bracket of 16 where we're supposed to be the best. Oh well, the odds of 34-0 started low too
