Is this game really going to cause heartburn for us? DJ is no longer a secret in this league and he certainly won't be to us after the dismantling of our D in the first go around. Something tells me that Cotton will be closer to DJ than DJ's own shadow.

But something also tells me that the Shox will again play down to the competition....for awhile. We win by 16.

I will be one of them.

Actually, I don't think we defend Balentine much differently than we did in Wichita. On the season he is averaging almost 8 freethrow attempts per game (and that isn't counting today's game against IlSU where he already has attempted 21 freethrows). Against us, he only attempted 2 freethrows. As a team, Evansville attempted 8 fewer freethrows against us than their season average.

Even with shooting above their season average from both the field and from 3, they failed to get to 70 points and lost by 14. In other words, even with them capitalizing on what is available (jump shots) when attacking the basket and getting the line is taken away, it wasn't enough for EU to win. I'm not convinced that we will change the strategy too much since I think that EU getting to the line is their best chance of beating people this year (especially since it accrues foul trouble on the superior team).

Evansville is a very young team but you know they will be confident at their barn, especially after our match-up problems for some duration here in Wichita. With that said, we are the better team, we play solid on the road, and we need to sweep them so they will see how that felt last Season. They want a 'rush the court Superbowl' and we have enough experience and quality depth to walk out with another win.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I didn't know that. I guess I look at the attendance figures and thought they played in a small gym.

Is Evansville a better team...no! Are they ever better when they beat WSU? They're not a flopping mess like UNI, but pretty good at pulling the gimmicks & playing not to lose.
WSU plays to win. Lets hope its convincing.

Not many lower level tickets left per ticketmaster. I will be there too. No tickets yet. I need to call today and see what their ticket office can do for me.

104 to 98 -- are you kidding me? The word "defense" must not have come into play AT ALL. 55 fouls. Of their 5 starters, EU had two foul out having played 30 mins or less; the other three had 40, 42 and 43 minutes, respectively. Balentine had 38 points and one foul. He either plays great defense or no defense. Their big center (please don't ask me to say or spell his name) fouled out (just like in our game) having played only 25 minutes. Don't know what Sunday is going to bring but as long as we don't get into serious foul problems, EU will NOT score 104 on us.

They are absolutely a flopping mess, they're the only Valley team that rivals UNI in that department. Grab, flop, grab, flop, that's their defense.

(Although I'm curious to see how Drake's flopping develops, it was pretty strong when we played them the first time, Giacoletti clearly learned some good flopping from Mark Few.)
There are nights when I think that Sal Paradise was right.

                                Comparative Stats from StatSheet

I trying something new, putting the all games and conference games only side-by-side.
