This was Elgin doing an interview for a radio station IN KANSAS CITY, and the information was tailored for a market IN KANSAS CITY.
Does anyone actually think Elgin would move the tourney out of St. Louis to any location other than Chicago? He might be putting out RFP's, but I can't imagine Kansas City has any remote chance of actually getting the tourney. The Illinois schools would have such a long bus ride and 2 of them would just have to turn right around and take another long bus ride home Thursday night. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Elgin does not, and will not, move the tourney to KC. In fact, the Valley really should change names to the Mississippi Valley Conference. Wichita State has become the biggest outlier and with the addition of Loyola, really does not fit in the conference.
Elgin is pumping KC to raise the interest from StL ond other serious considerations. If StL doesn't match KC, Elgin will look to Chicago or Indy. KC is there to bid this thing up. KC is Dave Hester. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

The B12 leaned it lesson that large cities likr Dallas and Chicago dont draw large crowds to these tourneys and Kansas City draws larger crowds than almost anywhere else in tne country, including NCAA regional tourneys. Elgin is not stupid. He would not give up a full house in St. Louis for Chicago. KC? Absolutely. Indianapolis? Maybe. But not for Chicago.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Elgin didn't think he would lose Creighton, but when the Catholic League formed, there was absolutely nothing he could do to keep them. Same with Wichita State, if a viable option presents, the Shockers are gone.
I'm still waiting for Missouri State to go big time in C-USA.There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. I still think it will stay in St. Louis, but if it did go to KC, it be mind blowing experience for all who attend.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!
