Not at all. Was never discussed. Talked about CU leaving, WSU players not being fazed by being undefeated, the ST Louis regional potential with a lot of area teams, what it might take for KC to get the MVC tournament.

This was Elgin doing an interview for a radio station IN KANSAS CITY, and the information was tailored for a market IN KANSAS CITY.

Does anyone actually think Elgin would move the tourney out of St. Louis to any location other than Chicago? He might be putting out RFP's, but I can't imagine Kansas City has any remote chance of actually getting the tourney. The Illinois schools would have such a long bus ride and 2 of them would just have to turn right around and take another long bus ride home Thursday night.

Elgin does not, and will not, move the tourney to KC. In fact, the Valley really should change names to the Mississippi Valley Conference. Wichita State has become the biggest outlier and with the addition of Loyola, really does not fit in the conference.

Elgin is pumping KC to raise the interest from StL ond other serious considerations. If StL doesn't match KC, Elgin will look to Chicago or Indy. KC is there to bid this thing up. KC is Dave Hester.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I think KC would second to STL, slight above Chicago and way above IND.

Well RFPs are flying around, I think Intrust Bank Arena should bid on it. Why shouldn't they?

I dont disagree that it is unlikely the tourney will leave St.Louis, but if it did leave I do disagree about Chicago.

The B12 leaned it lesson that large cities likr Dallas and Chicago dont draw large crowds to these tourneys and Kansas City draws larger crowds than almost anywhere else in tne country, including NCAA regional tourneys. Elgin is not stupid. He would not give up a full house in St. Louis for Chicago. KC? Absolutely. Indianapolis? Maybe. But not for Chicago.

I think this is the part where your logic starts to get fuzzy. He appears to be more interested in keeping his job, by catering to the Illinois schools and their voting block, than doing anything positive for the conference. Perhaps that is not stupid on a personal level, but it looks pretty stupid on a "how to improve a conference" level.

After reading all the entertaining posts one thought kept coming to me. If the MVC Tournament is moved to KC, is this Elgins way to convince WSU to stay in the valley?

No. Elgin probably thinks Wichita State is stuck, and if Wichita State isn't stuck, Elgin knows that there isn't anything he can do to keep them. The last hope for Elgin was dashed with the addition of Loyola.

Elgin didn't think he would lose Creighton, but when the Catholic League formed, there was absolutely nothing he could do to keep them. Same with Wichita State, if a viable option presents, the Shockers are gone.

I'm still waiting for Missouri State to go big time in C-USA.

If looks out for his job and moves it to Chicago on that basis, it would be stupid on his part and on the part of the teams that would go along with it. So, on that basis, I agree with you.

I still think it will stay in St. Louis, but if it did go to KC, it be mind blowing experience for all who attend.
