Actually I thought it was just a hair under 6'10" - so his roster height was more or less accurate.

    Now Carl Hall . . .

      • Miller was 6'8.5" without shoes; 6'9.25" with shoes

        Wonder if that is typical.

Edit: Carl Hall was 6'6" without shoes. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Carl-Hall-41914/

But he was able to shove 7-footer Kelly Olynyk around in the paint. (6'10.75" w/o shoes) http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kelly-Olynyk-19790/

            • My favorite segment comes toward the end of the article: "The rest -- Wichita State? San Diego State? -- are not so easy. That's why it's probably just best if we kill the term mid-major after all. It had a good run, but it got out of hand."

              • An interesting article.

The Wichita State Shockers were one of the biggest surprises in college basketball last year after making a Cinderella run to the Final Four. That tournament success, though, cost the team in a big way.

With doozies like this, I expected the reporter to be this guy:

He attended Vincennes Junior College for two seasons and played on the basketball team.

Can anybody explain why they measure guys without shoes? Nobody plays barefoot, and nobody plays in platforms -- well, Jason Collins, maybe -- so why not just measure people in regular basketball shoes, which is the relevant height for players? Is it just because when the rest of us go to the doctor we're normally measured without shoes, so they want to have players measured the same way regular folks are, to allow us to compare and be impressed by how tall the guys are?
