Agreed. I was barely noticing him, in the sense that he seemed in the right place a lot more than earlier in the season.

I said it before and I will repeat. If we can get a 6'9 or taller guy who is good enough to
contribute right away then great, otherwise, we are pretty well set with Bush, Shaq and RN.
All three will be better next season and I see another S16 in 2016.

i kind of thought it was zach brown out there, the way he was moving. nope, it was wamukota. shockers will need that + versus notre dame.

I was glad to see him playing and it just seemed to me his being there helped make a difference, although I can't relate it to anything specific he did. Perhaps just his size.

Love to see him put on about 20 lbs. or more over the summer.

He made a great offensive play late in the first half. We get a steal and FVV drives the ball down the lane, BW sets a beautiful screen to keep KU off FVV. Easy layup. If Bush wasn't playing team ball or didn't have the BBIQ to be there, that layup would have been contested. Of course, knowing FVV, contested or not, it was probably going in and probably he gets an and 1.

Wamukota was one of our biggest X-Factors against KU, so much so that Marshall chose to start him in the second half. How many of Bill Self's plans did that ruin? I'm sure if I were Self, it would be near the last thing I'd expect. Wouldn't surprise me if Self planned to attack Carter to try to get him in foul trouble, and starting Bush just made that impossible. And then later in the game, Marshall put in our biggest line-up and KU seemed completely shocked to be the smaller team. I don't think we need Wamukota to score or give us 20 minutes a game, but if we can get the disruption he brought to KU every night we'll be in a good spot against ND and probably next year.

If we are fortunate enough to advance and play UK we could very well be seeing a lot of Bush. Would surprise me at all if 3G started Bush and DC downlow in that situation just to try and combate their plethora of big men.

This isn't the time during a historic Sweet 16 run to keep pointing out the obvious. Therefore, I'm not going to be the guy who drops the turd into the punch bowl.

Enjoy the moment. These are rich times and don't come along often at all.

                  That is all.

This is what i see as well. Two of the four freshman will also have an opportunity to join the rotation.

When you say you're not going to poop in the punch bowl, aren't you kind of pooping in the punch bowl anyway?

I don't perceive anyone as saying Bush was in there kicking ass during his first half minutes, and he certainly makes for some cheek clenching moments during the high ball screens. But when we sat both major post players with two fouls and a KU lead, that game could have quickly gotten ugly. Bush came in and held his own defensively and set some nice screens on the other end. If we have no one who can keep from getting abused down low with Carter and Morris out, we can't really make that run that turned the game.

Plus the lost ball out of bounds, when a KU player punched the ball out of his hands. I still am not sure how it happened.

I think the ball was punched out and then Kelly tried to catch it, before it went out of bounds. Kelly touched the ball, but was unable to secure it.

Summer lessons for Rashard are 1) securing the ball and 2) finishing around the basket.

                          • Wamukota looks better at the end of his Jr year than Orukpe looked.

Orukpe was a better interior intimidator. He contributed to WSU's F4 beyond what's regularly attributed to him. Orukpe was one of the best screeners, rim protectors, and interior intimidators in the history of WSU BB. Unfortunately, he struggled with catching and throwing the ball. When Orukpe was in the game it was 4 on 5 when the Shox had the ball.

Wamukota looks better at handling the ball and contributing on offense. His screens are looking good. He's not going to be the interior intimidator Orukpe was. Wamukota may have a higher ceiling than Orukpe.

                            • I think the reason BWam started the second half had more to do with Shaq and DC having 2 fouls each and Marshall didn't want them picking up a quick 3rd. Often times refs call it tight after halftime. That's been Marshall's logic in the past.

Sorry for posting back to back, just caught up.

But when I talked to Hauer he mentioned to me that he thought BWam would get us extra possessions and he could block well down low in the interior. I think we'll see more of that next year. BWam was once a volleyball player and I can see that experience paying off in blocked shots.
