        That's some da*n fine company we're keeping.

"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

          Others of note:

Tennessee is the first team out 4 votes from the top 25.
They misspelled St Lewis in the poll, but they have 3 votes.

The conference that is God's gift to the basketball world has 1 team in the top 25. Marquette at #17.
The new AAC has 3 teams in the top 25

WSU went 3-1 last year against teams ranked ahead of them in this poll.

Kind of makes you wonder why those 3 teams we beat are ranked ahead of us when we beat them head to head, and, in my opinion, we have more quality players returning.

TCU beat KU head to head last year, where are they ranked?

I would be upset, but I think our ranking is pretty fair, and I tend to not begrudge the rankings of the Gonzagas and VCUs of the world.

We are pretty much right where most of us expected we would be in the pre-season. Now it is time to play some ball and keep moving on up the polls. I can't wait to see how these next six months play out!!!

Nothing wrong with being #16 and still behind 3 teams you just beat plus 1 you were able to hang with till the end.

I guess that means there is good reason to believe we could be moving up

Ah, but you're cherry picking my quote, I also said has quality players returning. It's pretty obvious that KU has more quality players returning even if you don't count new players.

                            No Creighton again?

Man, that program and conference has some respect.

                            ... No really, deuces.

Only two played more than 10 mpg, Tharpe and Ellis. Traylor averaged 9.6 mpg; White III averaged 5.0. The remaioning returnees Wesley (3.6), Garrett (1.9), Manning (2.8), Self (2.3) and Roberts (2.3). Frankly, this isn't returning many quality contributors from last season, IMHO.

Interesting to note is Baylor coming in at #25. It sure is nice to hear we scrimmaged very well against a top 25 opponent.

Also interesting to note is Myron Medcalf's analysis of the AP poll. Maybe he's finally starting to come around:

"Biggest surprise? Wichita State at No. 16 and Ohio State at No. 11. Both have lost key players (Malcolm Armstead and Deshaun Thomas, respectively), but the Shockers handled the Buckeyes in the NCAA tournament and then, they nearly knocked off national champion Louisville in the Final Four. I don’t think it’s crazy to give Wichita State top 10 consideration."

On Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press released its preseason poll for the 2013-14 season. Kentucky’s super team of McDonald’s All-Americans and future lottery picks tops the list.
