Wait so Toure basically just about made the Knicks roster?

What is left? He has to beat someone out at camp? I need an education.

He still has to win a roster spot. NBA rosters are 13 active players. There are currently 16 players slated for the Knicks training camp.

It actually wasn't great timing for Toure. The Knicks have Raymond Felton starting, and just resigned Pablo Prigioni and signed Beno Udrih. They probably have enough depth at PG, which is probably where Toure has the most advantages; for a PG, he has above average size and good athleticism, advantages that he wouldn't have against SGs.

My guess is that the Knicks are going to try to sign Toure to a non-guaranteed contract as insurance at SG. They have three SGs already (Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr.), but Smith has had off-season knee surgery and may not be ready to go. So Moure may be with them until Smith returns, at which point the Knicks would decide whether to keep him at the end of the bench or send him to their D-League affiliates.

I think that Miami may have been a better bet, but Toure probably had his reasons for going with the Knicks. The Heat have only 13 players signed, with Ray Allen and Dwyane Wade at SG and Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole at PG. That may mean that the Knicks gave him more guarantees despite their roster situation.

Looks like Toure Murry signed with the Knicks. They signed him to a non-guaranteed contract. I think Murry has a good chance to be on the opening day roster but could be dropped down to the D League after JR Smith comes back from suspension. It'd be cool if the Mavs played the Knicks and Murry was guarding Mekel.

Who knows. We'll hope for the best.

I think Toure's all-around game will serve him well. Especially his defense and rebounding. If he can stay within himself and keep the turnovers to a minimum I like his chances.

Don't forget, J.R. Smith is suspended 5 games and Jeremy Tyler is out 8-10 weeks. I think Pablo Prigioni will make the final roster regardless.

So even with two guys out, that leaves it to Earl Bannon, CJ Leslie, Chris Smith and Toure to fight it out for a chance to be suited up on the opening day roster. Whether they stay on the time or get dropped down to the D-League remains to be determined.

I like the final 15 man roster though to be Bargnani, Chandler, Bannon, Stoudemire, Martin, Tyler, Anthony, Shumpert, MWP, JR Smith, Hardaway, Udrih, Felton, Priogioni, Murry.
