One other at 6-0, all D-I games: CS Northridge. Also, the only 5-0 teams are Indiana and Southern Miss with Illinois at 6-0 including Chaminade.

I know this is off subject, but how do you like Moon Palace? It's the one Palace resort in Cancun area we haven't stayed/visited, yet. We almost went down for the tourney, but Airline tickets were too expensive over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

      • There is much vitriol and slander levelled at Wichita State on the Iowa boards. Being the state school in Iowa, I figured their fans would be more savvy about the Shockers, MVC, college basketball etc. (still not one mention of Ralph Miller over there).

The Shockers were the favorites going in, you know.

        • I suppose they have a lot of cool fans but there are sure a couple interesting ones. I don't think we were doing anything out of the ordinary at all and because of an unexpected loss (for them) they say things like 'you have a good team' but your fans (being us) are terrible terrible fans and I can't support your school or your state or wheat or the box turtle or the meadowlark anymore. Being told I am a crappy basketball fan because I like the team that beat someone else's team seems odd.

          • It seems like Mike Kennedy said even before we beat Iowa in the Stutz days, that we have a winning record versus all Big 10 teams through the years. I can't substantiate that as being factual but before the ESPN Era, beating their teams was no huge undertaking. Our beloved Shockers have been demanding respect and from around 2006 to now, we have defeated some rock solid impressive squads. I even had a KU fan call me and congratulate our Shocks and does not even know my "handle" is FSF here on SN. "YIKES!!!" We are raising some eyebrows but have lots of unfinished work to complete before we get to where we want to go.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

            • They had two of the three great refs from the Depaul game do the game last night, I wonder why they didn't get the whole band back together?

              • The Iowa fans must have been pissed at the Shocker fan in the Nacho Lubre wrestling mask. That was classless, and freaking AWESOME!!

After a quick look. WSU's all time record vs Big Ten, minus Nebraska: 19 wins - 24 losses. And beating their teams before the ESPN era WAS a huge undertaking. The big Ten has been a great basketball conference since at least the late 1930's. There were a lot of great games between MVC and Big Ten teams during the 1940's, 50's, and 60's when both conferences were considered to be in the top two or three every season.
"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

                      • Watched the rerun of the game today, since I missed out last night. Early, Armstead, Hall, and Orukpe were terrific. That was absolutely the best game that Orukpe has played as a Shocker. It was worth watching the whole game just to see him hit that jump shot ... lol Early is talented, not only a creator, but a finisher too. Armstead came up big several times. Hall was solid as well. We executed better than Iowa in the 2nd half, and kept the pressure on. It was a good game.

                        • Some on the boad dislike juco recruiting, or at best think it should be used as a resort when a high school recruiting class didn't pan out. As a reminder, all four of those mentioned by Snap as being terrific last night have juco experience, and Hall and Early were recruited by us as juco players. By the time they leave WSU, I guarantee Wiggins and Lufile will also be highly thought of.

                          • This might be my favorite quote on their board about the game last night.

During the pre-game radio show, Bobby Hansen said that a lot would depend on how the game was called; if the refs let a lot of the contact go, it would be to WSU's advantage and the MAC crew let it go.
                            What game were they watching?

In the OLD days we played purdue several times and those boys from the b1g were monsters compared to our boys. They used to manhandle us. This was before WSU bb players spent much time in the weight room. Times have changed and last night the shoe was on the other foot.
