Agree, but it was poetic justice given some of the BS that happened at the end. This was a very physical game.

I'm starting to feel sorry for SHOXMVC. He's kind of backed himself into a corner on this EO deal and appears ready to ride it all the way into the ground no matter how deep the hole gets. It's too bad really. It's going to be fun watching EO develop this year. He just looks better and better each game. His defensive presence is undeniable. And he's barely getting the attention of the refs.. Who woulda thunk it?

I watched one player catch the ball in deep against EO and all EO had time to do was stand with his arms straight up. The opposition scored, but EO did EXACTLY what he was supposed to do considering the circumstances. I was expecting a foul because Stutz would always foul in that situation. EO didn't. EO is learning.

I was in another BWW and the audio was set to the Shocker game as well. There were several KU fans in the store, but we were making so much noise I noticed they were watching our screen most of the time instead of theirs.

It was a great day to be a Shocker!

It seemed to me that Fred looked pretty calm and collected, when he was on the floor. I thought he looked quite a bit more relaxed and confident than he did in the NC-C game.

I am extra glad that he got the minutes.
I watched it again overnight, and while admittedly I am flipping exhausted, I had Fred for 1 turnover only, and frankly outstanding minutes. He played under control and when attacking the press made mostly outstanding decisions including dropping a sweet dime to Early for the flush, then again on the slip screen he hit Early perfectly for an And One that the ref totally blew and called a charge.

He also had by my count 5 near or assisted steals.

Fred's minutes were sensational imho, and I am becoming more excited by the minute. If he can play like that in game 2 against a top 40 club on the road......

            • FVV made a slick move, if I recall, but couldnt make the shot. He was a little out of control, but recovered, juked, and got himself an open shot.

              • We chardged once and they got called for a block, but they missed the Early call for sure.

                  • Question, twice Evan got "tied up" resulting in jump balls. Are these not considered turnovers? Depends on which team is awarded the ball?

I'm just now reading through the game thread and don't know if this has been answered or not, but he absolutely should have gotten it. I know the HS rule is as soon as you pick the ball up in a layup attempt you are in the act of shooting. Maybe NCAA has a different definition but I'd be shocked if they do.

I appreciate the love & concern Cold, because I know it's genuine (lol). I've backed myself in a corner...how?

                        1. Because EO in the first couple of minutes committed a turnover & almost committed another by fumbling a pass, therefore proving to 3G that he wouldn't be dependable during the crucial points of the game.
                        2. Reddic backed him down twice & scored easily, but the shots were altered (lol).
                        3. Reddic also got 5 offensive rebounds, but wait...I'm sure those probably happened when Carl was guarding him.

I going to fast for you Cold?

                        4. Pop quiz for you Cold...in 16 minutes of play, guess how many rebounds EO had? ONE (1).

I did like his aggressiveness when he went strong & got fouled. I could care less how the free throws looked (3G got a good chuckle out of the first one), they went in.

EO & Lufile will get ample time in the next 2 games to continue to work on things. I'll watch how it shakes out from my corner...if I could just find it.

                        Great win Shox...keep it up!!!

If VCU wins any of those, they'll have this loss to thank for it. The Shocks just made VCU a better team.

Whose stat line would you have rather he had tonight? If it was either hall or early you would be berating him for missing so many shots... Do you feel no big had a good game tonight? I agree eo was crazy overhyped, he will not be the dominant double double guy many on here wanted to see. But reading your posts, he's not even serviceable. He's a liability. He's a foul waiting to happen followed by a to every time he touches the ball. So far he has proven he can play reliably when we need him. Yeah he had the turnover, but he also made good decisions in a few press breaks when he got the ball. That is more than I expected at least and am sure you marked it a turnover as the pass got to him.

                              Sub,
Same deal. Once a player has 'gathered the ball' in driving towards the basket and fouled, he is considered in the act of shooting and free throws will be awarded.

The premise is not to reward a foul or poor defense.
Above all, make the right call.

                              • I just want to mention a few things about EO:

                                1. He is 5th on our team in scoring.
                                2. The combination of him, Hall, and Early is defining our defense. We are blocking 29% of shots at the rim. Kentucky last year blocked 19%.
                                3. Last game, he didn't get rebounds because he wasn't close to the rim and Reddic was the only person on the court that could make shots. VCU deliberately kept EO's man near the perimeter to keep him away from the paint, and it seemed like he never got opportunities on offense (no idea why, we missed plenty of shots).
