Early December it is, but consider two teams in the top 25. ISU Red has 3 loses. 1 to Louisville, one to an undefeated Wyoming team and 1 to a Northwestern team that is currently waxing Baylor in Waco. MVC, right now, is a minimum 2 bid conference, us and the Bluejays, with ISU certainly representative. Frustration with the close loses is understandable. I don't think we'll be the one bid conference of a couple years ago.

If the resident ShockerNet membership might indulge me a bit, I would like to regurg an oft regurged opinion of mine.
I don't give a rat's ass what the MVCDEFG does in the OOC. In fact I wouldn't mind if they all sucked so we could roll through 18-0 every season just like Memphis did in CUSA. I have absolutely no intention of ever believing the MVCDEFG will develop into a respectable conference. It is chock a block full of loser programs. I couldn't tell you one OOC opponent a Valley school has faced except for BJ and Longwood because that is some funny shat.
I expect Wichita State to win a solid non-conference schedule and then roll through the Valley on their way to the real tournament.
I don't care about the MVCDEFG
I don't care about the MVCDEFG Weekend Welfare Tournament
All I care about is Wichita State furthering their program and leaving this rotten league behind it

It doesn't matter if Gonzaga was stoked. What mattered is that they entered conference play with some credentials and then kicked ass in conference. There were many years that they got in and were not a first or second place MVC team...

Fever, Gonzaga was the only real team for about ten years. They lived on their reputation and inflated win / loss record. Based on our current reputation the MVC can't have a bunch of landlines in the form of plus 200 RPI road losses.
WSU will be graded on the results it produces.
If the results happen over F-rated teams, the results are penalized. Is this really that hard to understand?Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

We are a major program. I agree with you there. But we haven't had the game to game results in March yet. With all of the things going for us that you mentioned, they have to translate to March wins or they become meaningless.Deuces Valley.

I disagree. I believe the committee knows quality when they see it. If WSU plays to its potential this year they will be seeded based on their quality not their league affiliation.
Also, this isn't a hypothetical year. We are in the top 25 and have a damn good opportunity to be there when conference play begins. If that is the case, we have to tow the line and the seed will come. Other than MSU, the Valley is what it has always been. A first or strong second place showing has us safely in with a great seed.

I don't believe it matters to us whether or not our conference is strong. In fact, a weak conference would just about guarantee our appearance in the NCAA's every year. We have the resources and the talent to schedule and beat good teams in the OOC. Most of the programs in our league play spoiler and boy have they spoiled some very good years. I say to hell with all of them.

I'm going to have you do me a favor. On the coach's show next week, would you mind calling in and asking Coach Marshall if he thinks a good Valley or a bad Valley helps his team. If Marshall sides with you, then I will concede.Deuces Valley.

If we consistently dominate a weak conference and make runs into March, a la Gonzaga or Memphis, then yes I will agree with you that the conference and Valley does not matter. Unfortunately, just striving and wanting to be like those programs doesn't matter. You actually need results. And results we do not have at the moment. As it stands at the current moment, we need a strong conference.Deuces Valley.
